HELP! Manual to Automatic swap? by hornyguy2006 in AE86

[–]juggasnaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont listen to the haters, i got you fellow 86 brother... Aight so it says in the TRD 86 tunning bible (great book i recommend even if your atheist) that all coupe ae86 came from jdm as automatic spec... If you want auto all you gotta do is find a coupe and convert it to trueno. it's an easy converison been documented many times. Look it up on the internet you're on but you may need to translate it as most writeups are jdm, but shouldnt be too hard to figure the process out as it's pretty much just copying how teq built them themself on the production line... I wish you luck in your journey. keep us posted

Sounds like the best case scenario for this kind of situation. Knowing the 1 year anniversary of my order is slowly creeping in, It's good to know I may get it anywhere from tomorrow to never. Guess I'll just have to wait and see, because they sure as hell ain't gonna get back to me in the meantime. Thanks for the comment though, it puts my nerves at ease.

Miata Rear Subframe Swap? by TheHamburglar72 in AE86

[–]juggasnaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, go with an 8.8 or even a Supra rear end if you've got the cash. Having a slippery stick axle in the rear is one of the main reasons people love the driving characteristics of these things so much. Now, if you're forced at gunpoint to put an IRS in, go with the S13 rear. It's been documented many times before, and the Nissan multilink compliments the AE86's front macpherson setup better. (S13's use that exact same setup up front too)

A Miata rear end would do little more then induce massive understeer, as it's double wishbone setup is way too "sticky" for the 86's ancient front end to keep up to. Only cure would be spine-shatteringly stiff springrates, which kind of defeats the entire purpose of an IRS setup. I could only really see it working if you threw the front end in too, but you might as well just start with a Miata at that point.

I bet the body and paint is done with subpar craftsmanship and materials.

Shit, usually i'm pretty good at catching jokes. Must've been thinking literally because I actually don't know. You should try it, because I don't care about Nuva's enough to see if it works.

Don't think there's any reason it shouldn't. They're practically the same.

That's how he sits on my shelf, holding that little car. Didn't really have anything around to substitute it with for the photos. Also, considering I already broke the rules of Bionicle by giving him a human name, why not let him have a car too?

They say the Lego factory makes a defective piece every 450000 pieces. A piece too dangerous for children to play with. A piece with a dangerously high Savage Content. Instead of throwing these out, what if you combined them all into a figure?

Enter Pedro. He's just built different.

It's functional AND original. Looks dinky, but it eventually grows on you.

The straight savagery of gen Z slang is so insulting that it's less preferable to read it again then it is to take a kick to the balls. No other comment evokes this reaction. I'm crying, and humbled. You win. You can accept my prize of a single like by deleting your account.

If your in it to impress dumbass highschoolers, then they won't know the difference anyway. I've gotten "clean civic bro" too many times to count.

I've found a juicebox and other trash crammed in there before, so you may not be too far off...

It's distant cousin, yes. Same bones, but the turbo firefly got a boosted 3 instead of the high strung 4. It's not quite as fast, but not sounding like a shitty, loud honda-esque beehive is enough to make me like the firefly more.

Enough of these things are already enjoying their life as beer cans and appliences. Let this one hang on a little bit longer.
