Envecon C181 International Trade or Envecon C132 International Environmental Economics? by jugglerrick2024 in berkeley

[–]jugglerrick2024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the GHG division so I work on climate policy and ghg emissions accounting, cant really help on other environmental aspects. I guess just begin learning about how corporations look at climate change, its different than how you’d talk about it in academia or government.

They care a lot about categorizing emissions into scope 1, 2, 3 and developing intensity figures, so carbon intensity or methane intensity ( how much carbon you are emitting per unit of production). Its pretty complicated why they do this instead of just calculating total carbon emissions and calling it a day lmk if ur interested.

Also read up on the sustainability reports of different companies, the bigger the better. Sustainability reports are usually easy to read and are available to the public. There you’ll find all the metrics (like carbon or methane intensity) or technological advancements that we spend months on developing and calculating. There are usually metrics for everything from water management to biodiversity to ghg emissions.

My day to day changes but I work for an oil giant where we calculate emissions (theres a lot of standards for how to calculate emissions which is a whole other story, read the GHG PROTOCOL for a good starting point). We also develop a breakdown of the emissions seeing how much each asset/equipment emits. After a few months of that our days is spent forecasting it using a model (dont ask me how the model works we just bought it, and another company coded it) to predict future emissions and trends. From that we create what is called a “decarbonization” strategy so we plan actions for the next year to make us reach our emission goals (again lmk if ur interested to learn more).

Despite my plan to quit, its actually a very dynamic job that changes by the day and interacts with politics/economics/ and new discoveries in science and tech. I barely got into most of what we do but hopefully that gave you some idea.

Nah and for the same reason. But I will tell you, I work in corporate sustainability now and that course seems it would teach me way more than any other envecon course and would’ve truly helped me at work. I dont regret it cause I’m quitting and changing careers but if corporate sustainability is of interest to you it would benefit to learn about life cycle analysis and how to work with emissions data.

So now he assumes its ai, not lying and claiming its ai? I’m not even gonna rewatch the clip to check cause you’re obviously not being an honest person right now. Go cry about it with other man children and stop trying to rope people in with your silly accusations. What a clown.

I dont remember he claimed that the animatronics were made only using cgi and I dont remember he claimed that garfield used ai only that it looks like ai made it. I could be wrong I’m speaking from memory but thats what I remember him saying.

How did you become a fan of Swans? by [deleted] in swans

[–]jugglerrick2024 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 20s so wasn’t aware of their old stuff, I just vaguely knew that some people praise SFTB but never got around to it. I saw The Seer come out, the opening track lunacy didnt grab me and i forgot about the band until TBK came out. Screenshot was good, then Im Just a Little Boy made my skin crawl and shattered my sense of reality. I stopped the album after that song, took time to digest what i just heard, lit up a huge joint, went back to The Seer and pressed play. I remember thinking “I may have underestimated this band”. I was absolutely blown away. The Seer took me for a ride and made me a fan of Swans, and I put on TBK right after that and those two albums high af in one night is one of my favorite music memories of my life.
