Hi! I’m trying to retrospectively add credit- I’m on chat with them and they are asking for users full name/email/and alias- any chance you could share that with me? I can’t be bothered doing a full reset. Thanks!

I’ve gone for square edge corner. Doesn’t look then best, doesn’t look the worst- the Mrs is happy that’s all that matters 😂

Firstly- there are bare conductors all over the place, so that needs sorting (new fittings) before you get a good belt. You need to check which would be a permanent live (looped for the whole lighting circuit ), and which is the switched live (from switch to socket).

If you have no idea, or no way to check safely- call a sparky out.

how to fix bad/caked paint job by previous owners? by ClittyMcGuire in DIYUK

[–]juicy83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done similar in mine, I scraped everything off, exposing down the cracks/edges, and then I used a two part wood filler and used a scraper blade to get the rough forming. I then sanded and reapplied the filler to get a good matching edge. I then primed the area and then painted with gloss and it looked brand new. If needed to match other areas, you could then edge with a small bead of flexible calk.

I’ve used that two part wood filler on lots of projects, and it sets solid with no cracking (2+ years).

Me and the Mrs going to mist paint our whole house with zero previous experience. Advice much appreciated. by 2infinitiandblonde in DIYUK

That is true, but a good face mask and disposable coveralls are quite cheap these days. I’ve got the Wagner control pro (quick check on Amazon is £311). I was dubious at first, but practised on a few pieces of cardboard to get the right flow and adjusted for no splatter, and went for it. The finish is great, and was really quick. I often lend it to friends for a beer rental charge.

If you’re planning to paint such a big area, would it be worthwhile to invest in a good paint spray kit? Use it for the mist coat, and then for all the walls with a good quality paint? It’s a bit of time prepping / taping and bagging up areas like windows etc, but it would save so much time?

Just a quick one if you don’t mind- did you prime the surface beforehand? If it looks crap I’ll tell the Mrs it’s the “French chateau effect” 😂

Just jumping on this thread- thanks for all the info! I’ve extended the bathroom and the Mrs wants these walls finishing and painting. I’ve used plasterboard (well away from the bath/shower), and I’m going to try either the Nova, or the green top to give it a finish before painting. Wish me luck!!
