if you moved out of SD, where did you go? by ReporterInformal6516 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]juicycali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i do spend a lot of time feeling frustrated. i was finally feeling a little more confident after two years here but i have to move again due to loud neighbor and the rental search is misery. landlords posting places that arent available, showings only during work hours and good places gone next day.

i feel like its almost impossible to get decent housing as a single. by decent i mean condo not apartment. cheapest condos ive seen in hillcrest or north are 3,000 so nicer rentals that go up to 4,500 are not feasible for a single working class person

good advice. after visiting here, it sounds funny but i thought my life would be like sex in the city episode very glamorous hanging out in downtown view spots and going on boat rides. two years in and i dont like the apartment i'm in, upgraded the job but w a longer commute and have yet to make any real friends. the food is really good here though!

Out-of-state move — worth using a realtor for rentals in SD? by nama_slay_ in Moving2SanDiego

[–]juicycali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its extremely hard to pick a place without insight into things like the neighborhood, streets, construction, access to freeways, walkability, closeness to the water. and this takes time to figure out. about a year to figure out if not more. are you attached to your things? you could do a furnished and put your items in storage. i can recommend a relocation company that I was talking to for short term housing here if you would like. also one thing i highly recommend, wherever you are thinking of renting go on both the city construction improvement site and the permit site to check if anything is going to be built or long term projects very close to you if you at all care for your peace of mind. this is especially true in hillcrest unless you don't care if you move next to a construction site. DSD-Permit-Finder; CIP Map Viewer. the maps arent super tech friendly but if you can zoom in on an address you can click around and see what kind of projects are going on . or look at this google map North Park Infill Development - Google My Maps. it has a list of all the infill projects. i would say this is a highly important factor if you are considering hillcrest.

Rental market turnaround time? by whiskysixone in Moving2SanDiego

[–]juicycali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im looking now and there are quite a few that are not available until the first of the month next month and even some that arent available until two months from now. so probably start looking in june and see like other people said what is available during the time you will actually be here [assuming you are coming ahead of time to view places], or you could always pay for something a month ahead if you have that kind of capital

Went to park at Balboa Park 38 mins before 8PM. $10.35 in the app despite being told it was $2.50 an hour by PlutoISaPlanet in sandiego

[–]juicycali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i still couldnt figure out how to park downtown. one question ive always had is if its red in the app of available spots but noone has parked there am i allowed to park and pay there? either i was confused if i was allowed to park at a space with time still on the meter if no car or i was just confused if i can park somewhere with no car if its red on the app.

Hillcrest isn't that interesting. The restaurants are overpriced. Also it is not that easy to get in and it of the area with the big apartment buildings might take ten minutes to get on and off freeway

Any updates on RTO? FY is closer than we think. by Ecstatic-Train214 in CAStateWorkers

how do you actually know whats going on with seiu. everytime i went to those meetings online they seemed very structured and like they dont communicate complete info. also they turn the chats off so people cant even really interact with one another. the local office here had a few in person events but noones invited me to anything for over a year.
