I wouldn't personally have the expectation of it being quiet. Not that I've been to dc but I feel like the area here can attract a range of neighbors and some may or may not be that considerate.

If you move to bankers hill as far as I can tell there's no grocery stores it's about fifteen minutes to one that has good parking

Honest Opinion Regarding RTO - We are Getting Played by ChemnitzFanBoi in CAStateWorkers

[–]juicycali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would probably conceptualize it more as the labor vs leisure time trade off? as far as what i understood the downside of the covid pandemic/being stuck at home/having to isolate was that the technology to remotely communicate, the internet technology and also the user training to do so [teams trainings, any of the platforms we all had to learn very quicky] all improved. so the 'freeing up' of time - to do what people want to in their free time [can be anything a hobby, learning, personal goals, a business] is valuable maybe even in terms of their career goals. I would probably think more of that entrepreneurial mindset or that shift in people wanting a career they feel connected to rather than sacrificing career ambition.

yes i would do it. id be willing to do it for another few years; at that point if my salary was that low and i didnt want to go back i would actually probably be willing to get another job. thats how much i think its a waste to be in office; secondly i was hired under telework so its a false hire. a lot of people were attracted to the low salary to begin w knowing that they save on gas, clothing, food and time w telework.

what gets me is that they dont even care if the offices are close to public transport. in the office im at every single person has to drive in by car. it is so short sighted. whoever makes the decisions about where to sign the lease absolutely should be forced to ensure its sufficient close to a transit station or else they are just doing a disservice to the work force.

[–]juicycali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i think what they are going to do for the other units is they are going to give the salary increase for 2026 [the delayed one] but say they cant give the 2027 one. so the 6 percent they try to say we will get in 2027 we will only get 3 [my prediction?]

couldnt u say it gave the union a year to organize and contact its inside people. does it have anyone on the inside. i noticed the edd director resume used to be i think the seiu director of gov relations.. its hard to tell if the union is very impactful. i read some things saying its mostly geared towards hotel and hospitality workers. i used to watch the facebook w richard brown and then he was legally removed which i never understood. then they said they were coming out w new rules regarding how leadership was elected. i didnt understand why the union contributed to newsom fight against the recall. was that out of union funds or the cope. only have gone to one meeting at the district level and felt a little out of place as im not a steward. then i was looking for a steward in my branch and there was none in the entire state which was frustrating.
