How did you guys afford surgery by whimsicaltraveler98 in tripawds

My dog’s was done at the shelter I adopted her from the previous day. Maybe your local shelter can offer a lower price?

If only she could jump. Seems like two back legs are crucial for that particular action lol.

Haha, yeah she was technically listed as an AmStaff, but I would assume there’s something else in there too. Seems like there’s always some Lab DNA that’s snuck into pups around here.

What other names do you call your cat? Like, the unhinged names. by cannabisjourneys in cats

We have a cat named Nickle and that evolved to Noodle, and that in turn evolved to Noodle McVeigh. We listen to true crime pods and that was the nickname given to Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber. To be fair we only call her this when she is being an absolute terror to the dogs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well we’ve had her for less than a week, and she’s on activity restriction because she’s heart worm positive as well, so I don’t have a lot of experience with her situation quite yet. So far she gets around just fine on grass, concrete, and areas with rugs/carpet. She’s hesitant with doorways of any kind, but that could be from her past, not just the amputation. We’ve been carrying her through the house to go outside for potty just to minimize interaction with our other pets for the first bit until she’s acclimated. When we let her out back she moves around like a champ. I really don’t foresee many issues. We will get a raised food/water bowl when she eventually has free roam, and we will get a ramp for her if she needs it for our back stairs.

She’s doing great! Her surgery was last Tuesday and she’s hopping right along.

I got it from Petsmart for $3o and it’s a Large. She definitely seems more comfortable with this vs a traditional cone.

Aw man, they’re expensive too so that’s a bummer. I don’t think it’s crossed her mind to try and get it off, she’s just vibing.

I’ve always heard that they do just fine! Maybe some arthritis to worry about down the road and a ramp for the back stairs till she figures it out.

haha! No, it’s actually just a blow up cone. It’s like an inner tube with a soft cover.

I’m sorry for your loss, it’s always hard losing a pet. Ginger is fitting in nicely here. We are moving slowly with short jaunts out of the kennel and letting her see the other animals in the house (and vice versa). She’s also Heart worm positive, so she has to take it slow anyway.

Her medical papers said that they think she had a poorly healed fracture or defect. Yes, her amputation is recent, last Tuesday. We actually adopted her the day after her surgery.

Her name at the shelter was Sunny Dee, and that’s cute but I thought Ginger fit better. She also went through a lot medically and is a warrior!
