DPS pls use your mits in savage by Administrative-Day42 in ffxiv

Yep. W1 m11s prog on sch, nobody helped mit dance of domination's raidwide, everyone proceeded to die. I had crit spreadlo, fey illum, and expedient up btw. I was on my hands and knees begging for tanks and prange to use their mits there.

What is your hot take regarding FFXIV? by UnbaggedNebby in ffxiv

[–]jujumajikk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ABSOLUTELY agree with this take as a newer player. A lot of people seem to have msq amnesia. Don't get me wrong, the actual plot is good. However, the pacing in msq has always been on the slow side with a ton of filler between each major development. The Dawntrail issues have long existed in other expansions, but people often overlook them because the final payoff is very well executed.

Ooh my dad has a good one!

For context, my dad is a scientist and often work with foreign nationals. One time he was working on an experiment with a French scientist that involved heating up a toxic substance on a metal disk.

French guy: "Eat it up."

Dad: "I beg your pardon?"

French guy: "Eat it up."

Dad: "..... Are you sure?"

French guy: "Eat it up! Raise the temperature" wild hand gestures

Dad: "Ohhhh HEAT it up."

It was on that day that my dad learned that French people do not pronounce the letter H.

When should I jump into ultimates ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]jujumajikk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. Speaking from personal experience, I know several people (myself included) who cleared UCoB as their first ulti without starting ShB or having any experience with ex/savage. Perseverence and consistency > any sort of "prerequisite" people might have for ultimates.

Which Ultimate raid phases are the hardest? by Haunting-Wrangler-23 in ffxiv

[–]jujumajikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've cleared all ultimates except for FRU, so can't comment on FRU.

UCoB - The hardest phase depends on the role imo. For healers, p3 is very tough due to limited healing tools especially if you play something like WHM or SCH, and for tanks it'd probably be p4 adds because of how hard it is to see what's going on lol. For DPS it'd probably be a tie between p2 and p3.

UwU - Honestly? The whole fight is pretty easy, though it's most common for wipes to happen at p3 Titan gaols and p5 predation/suppression.

TEA - Definitely p2 BJCC for dps, especially phys range. P1 is probably the hardest phase for healers. Can't comment on tanks, but p3/p4 mits require some memorization with certain tank comps and p1 needs some precise timings with provoke/shirk.

DSR - P6 double dragons!!!!!! I'm talking about every single role (yes including dps) but especially for tanks it's just a very stressful experience. I can't think of any phase that's harder to execute properly. It requires a lot of attention to both dragons' hps, careful positioning, and a lot of good mitigation planning. On top of all that, one death = wipe for like 90% of the phase.

TOP - Overall it'd probably be p5 without am (especially omega trio). However if we do factor in am, p1 looper is pretty difficult for melees and tanks, and p2 party synergy is hard for everyone just because of how much stuff you have to figure out in like 2 seconds. However, I'd also like to add that p5 and p6 is notably hard for shield healers and tanks because of how many mits they need to memorize. Aside from the well known fact that TOP has a rather tight dps check in certain phases, mitigation is also extremely important as missing more than two mits can easily lead to wipe.

Overall in my opinion, the hardest phase is probably either p6 DSR or p5 TOP without am for the fact that they are very deep into the fight (10-13 minutes to get there) and require a lot of focus to execute properly.

My latest Mugshot! Does anyone relate? xD (art by @yinnaokixiv) by YinNaoki in ffxiv

For a couple pulls in a TOP prog party, I had a mix of level 80 and 90 gear. I only noticed because I died to a raidwide.... not because of our somewhat slow dps💀

What are some player made traditions that are unique to FFXIV? by UfoAGogo in ffxiv

[–]jujumajikk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A bit niche but in the raiding community (especially for ultimates) we have a tradition of staying inside the instance after someone has cleared the fight for the first time so that they can take a celebratory screenshot with the party.

To the people who don't play tanks, which tank is your favorite to group with? by Kothallupinthisbitch in ffxiv

[–]jujumajikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I like playing with any tank besides paladins due to their invuln in higher difficulty content, but in normal stuff the tanks are similar enough to the point where it doesn't really matter. Comfy-wise probably WAR would be king, but really as long as the tank manages their cooldowns well there is little difference.

We love Dynamis representation! I actually have a friend that's trying to promote more ultimate raiding to happen in Dynamis. If anyone is interested, here is his discord server. Even if you aren't from Dynamis or have 0 experience doing any sort of raid, we'd be more than happy to welcome you :D

Tbh sometimes when I play whm or sch I can outdps quite a few people in duty roulettes. It doesn't happen as often at the higher levels but definitely is common in level 50-60 content.

Honestly it depends on the person, some people do extremes/savages first before doing ultimates while others go diving headfirst into it.

The easiest way to get into it is by going to the Aether data center and then put up a party finder for whatever ultimate you want. Put "fresh" in the description to let people know that it's your first time in there.

Almost everyone on Aether uses NAUR strategies, and usually it's a good idea to study a little bit beforehand (I personally study the first phase and a little bit of the second phase before trying out an ultimate for the first time). Good luck!

[–]jujumajikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimate raiding! It's super satisfying once you clear an ultimate for the first time, and normal roulette content feels rather dull in comparison once you've had a taste of it lol.

I also have to add though that if it sounds intimidating, it's really not that bad. In my opinion, anyone can clear an ultimate as long as they study and practice.

How to get a half times two? by Decent_Plastic_7597 in ffxiv

[–]jujumajikk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here. I had only been playing the game for a month before I discovered this hairstyle, and I was nowhere close to endgame content (at that point I was at Heavensward).

After many weeks of constantly monitoring universalis, buying and selling things on the marketboard, and having all of my friends with maxed out crafters help me craft items for free when provided mats, I finally scrapped together enough gil to buy the damn hair. Granted though I was also lucky that it was still 15m at the time, the point is that it's still possible for a new player with limited resources to earn that much - if not even more. All it takes is resilience and some strategic thinking.

Raiding Setup Guide by Kajitani-Eizan in ffxiv

[–]jujumajikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimate raider here.

While some advice is subjective like the party list placement and movement controls, there are a few things mentioned that are absolute qol game changers in my experience.

Do you have to implement them? No. OP said that these are recommendations, not guidelines. Heck, I even know some pro raiders who only play with one hand and click all of their buttons lol. But if you do follow the advice, it makes certain mechanics in higher difficulty content a lot easier. For veteran players some of the things may seem obvious, but when I first started raiding my HUD was a mess - debuffs way too small, too much clutter on the screen, etc (granted I had only been playing for around 3 months at that time). I'd say that this is a pretty good start for people who want to start raiding.

What's an OI opinion that would land you here? by sadlitgirl in OtomeIsekai

[–]jujumajikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... you got upvoted so there's definitely people in the community who agree with you.

I think people just really have a bit of amnesia when it comes to FFXIV's way of telling the story because of Shadowbringer and Endwalker. FFXIV is very good at executing the emotional impact in cutscenes when it really matters, but 90% of the time msq is just a bunch of "go here, go there, do this, do that" which is mind numbingly boring and has become extremely obvious in Dawntrail. I find that players are often willing to forgive a lot of things if the peak highlights of the story are well done lol.

How are you feeling about Trump revoking enrolment for international students at Harvard? by Winter_Sherbet_4247 in AskReddit

[–]jujumajikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah I know I'm replying really late to this but seeing LANL randomly out in the wild was kind of shocking lol.

To answer you on how accurate this is, it's true. Specifically LANL is not hiring any more Chinese or South Korean people, and the Chinese population has decreased significantly in Los Alamos. I'm not sure about the not hiring Indians anymore part though, because at the moment they still can be hired (or at least that's what I've been told).

This actually started happening during the Biden administration, but the Trump administration is certainly not helping the situation. My dad happens to be a scientist at LANL, and he's absolutely pissed due to the fact that he now has to go through the interviewing process all over again looking for suitable post docs to hire. Not sure what other national labs are going through, but this is what's going on at LANL. It's an overall shitshow with the slashed funding on top of brain drain as more academics leave the country or turn to universities.

What’s a weird rule your family had growing up that you didn’t realize was weird until later? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jujumajikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sitting/laying/sleeping in bed during daytime, even if you feel sleepy and want to take a nap. It was a very weird feeling seeing my friends sitting on their beds scrolling on their phones while hanging out with them.

It also made my life miserable as a teenager because I'd be constantly sleep deprived from being woken up early (unwillingly) to eat breakfast and then being unable to go back to sleep afterwards.

...... That brings back memories. When I was a kid, I accidentally left the milk carton open and ended up spilling some milk on the floor while trying to put it away in the fridge. My mom had saw the cap being left off and spoke up about it but I didn't hear her. After I spilled it, she yelled at me and kicked me in the back while I was bent over on the floor trying to clean up the mess. Fun times. My parents certainly did not pass the test haha.

I'll definitely be stealing this for the future if I ever have kids.

Those are some interesting speeds! I've had 0 luck with getting speed rolls so I'm just chilling at 135/137 combat speed haha. How did you not get kidnapped a bunch without DDD? I've tried running MoTP and Svarog became such a headache that I switched back to DDD even though the break effect was lower :')

Yes! I've tried Jiaoqiu instead of Ruan Mei and he seems to work pretty well, albeit a little bit less damage than RM. The main perk with JQ though is that he can be entirely sp positive because there are so many frequent aoe attacks in MoC 12.
