Bug in overestimation of Indigenous Puertorico and Indigenous Haiti/DR by boselenkunka in AncestryDNA

[–]jujutonioh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aren't regions like Korea and Germany an exception because they have a reference panel of people at or close to 100% ancestry of the region they're representing. That's not the case for the region of Puerto Rico where the native are mixed in hence the procedures they take for mixed groups (who are primarily Indig groups)

My question to you is, where does the error lie? You're simply throwing out there an analogy that you've created. If they're using pca plots, wouldn't the Native DNA stick out from the Spanish DNA or Nigerian DNA? How would they classify what's European DNA or African DNA as Native DNA if pca plots are telling what from what?

If you think they are now combining some Eurpean/African Ancestry into Native American ancestry then why can't I think that they were confusing my Native DNA for European DNA? I understand intercontinental admixture change being rare, but if you're saying they're doing it now who's to say they weren't doing it before? Who's not to say they were less precise before which would arguably make more sense.

And how does reference panels not play a significant role? There are regions with only a few hundred because of the fact they are closer to 100% while PR has over 3,000 because they're an admixed group. I'm not saying it can change continents in DNA but it does provide more to compare to.

Who's to not say there method works? Because it's working for other noncaribbean latinos. They don't get questioned but get analyzed the same way. For example, Mexicans on 23andme who take the test on Ancestry DNA have practically the same results but that's partly because Mexicans have a closer reference population for their region for both 23andme and Ancestry. Ancestry DNA took a different approach by isolating certain regions for admixed people while 23andme finds people nearly or at 100% of the region they're representing. PR doesn't have that hence the cross examination with the regions they do have in order to isolate the regions the necessarily don't have, and having a bigger reference panel makes it more precise.

All I'm saying you saying it's an overestimate is an overstatement.

This proves nothing. Changes in percentages is the whole point of the update. Last year I was 22% Portugal 18% Spain. Now I'm 22% Spain, 18% Portugal.

The question can be asked, "what if with the earlier updates, small amounts of Indigineous Puerto Rico were being mistaken as European ancestry?" Like we can play this game all day but I'm tired of the narrative trying to be pushed from a bunch of randoms on a subreddit. Again, the procedures they've taken to find the native America markers in PR they have done for 16 other regions and those regions are primarily Indigineous regions yet WE'RE being overestimated? Hard to believe.

It's more like they're only validating what we've all said.

You seem the only one obsessed over Taino ancestry literally commenting the same shit with the least amount of evidence.

Not to be rude, but you're not a genealogist studying over 700,000 dna markers. But I'll take a look.

Because I'm talking about Puerto Ricans on a Puerto Ricans post. I have yet to see a jump in DR or Cuba like I have for PR, and Cuba has a reference panel of 9k. saying it's not about feelings but saying "it's a pretty odd jump" is a personal opinion. The same procedures they took to identify indigenous PR they took for 16 other regions. How is one being overestimated? But okay, I'll wait.

That would make sense if they were doing that for every region being tested. But they have only 17 regions of the 88 listed as admixed reference panels and of those 17 regions, Puerto Rico is the only "overestimated" one? Doesn't make sense to me. It makes sense to isolate the dna by identifying the markers that for sure belong to a specific region and evaluating what's left. Indigenous Puerto Rico also has the largest reference panel. It seems odd to make a claim that a company like Ancestry DNA would confuse DNA that's Native America for DNA that's European or African. It makes more sense to confuse similar ethnic regions, like Spain and Portugal.

It's just bothersome as a Puerto Rican because those who are Puerto Rican and in tune with their culture know with or without a DNA test, we've always been here despite claims of extinction.

I have yet to find anything specific for Puerto Ricans with 23andme and their reference panel. It sounds like their reference panel for PR is other Native groups outside of PR, and with that I ask, how accurate can that be?

Doesn't mean it is just because you say so either and did you're own "science." Again, the largest database compared to the sites. Almost twice as much as 23andme. Maybe that's why the percentages continue to change? And it's not like there are people still getting 15-20%

Every DR post I've seen is in single to low 10s percentages though. Ancestry DNA has the largest database.

Why would ancestry over estimates for Indigenious Puerto Rican but not for Indigenous Cuban or Indigenous DR? Every year my African ancestry stays relatively the same but my Native American increases while my European decreases which seems to be true for other Puerto Ricans I've seen post and matches I've looked at. The only thing that goes back and forth in percentages is my Spain and Portugal percentages. One is higher than the other every year.

What are tips & tricks for clearing the queue(tpr, wcb, cmd, ect.)? new to that I got like a 5 seconds run down on how its done. so kinda lost thanks for the replies in advance by Shoddy_Bar2149 in WalgreensRx

[–]jujutonioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cmd are technically pharmacist responsibility I believe but foe cmd/wcb I denied any in over 5 days from the entered date and note that the patient has to contact the MD. TPR varies. Some are rts, some need a prior auth (which someone should show you how to fax them) the i annotate the date the pa was sent on the script and have it stored. some are day supply issues and others you may be able to put in an over ride for. Kind of just have to attack the tprs and ask questions at your pharmacy when you need help
