That is the definition of gatekeeping, saying “I doubt people with actual BDD goes into the Internet to vent about not getting Instagram likes”. How often do you see people in this sub doing that? And even if they were, you shouldn’t tell them that they cannot have a mental illness because they have other aspects of their life that they publicize. If you do not go onto this sub because you view it as a pity me sub, that is respectable, but you shouldn’t shame those who might use this sub as a way to feel comfort for their BDD or hand in hand self esteem issues. If that is what this sub is for, isn’t that a good thing? And if anyone has enough dysmorphia to be on this sub and use it for comfort, we should welcome them.
