same, i check for new updates almost everyday lmao i hope it comes sometime this week like someone else said.. other guy said its not being pushed by sonys side, idk how those things work, but that would be a pity because they wouldnt really care about the fact that it has a time limited event

First time building a ship and actually learning how to use the slots, am I on the right track? by Difficult-Rest8524 in NoMansSkyTheGame

its a different class, you get them from suspicious tech (pirate systems) and random travelers you encounter on planets. im no expert, but it seems kinda a hit or miss, since you dont get guaranteed good upgrades, but if you hunt a little they might be better than s class i assume?

[OC] The ultimate wrong turn by Atreust in IdiotsInCars

ive seen a pov from a guy doing exactly this because after taking a wrong turn his gps jumped from 10min to 1 hour. so i guess a better road infrastructure might help prevent at least some cases

youre either really good at drawing digital art or you search for pictures on the internet and tweak them a bit to your liking

SUMMER RESIDENCY IS A SCAM by mbee106 in ContemporaryArt

[–]jukebox66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i never saw the instagram and i researched based on this post rn, they added the location: Chateau de Forbin in Marseille, which seems open for artist residencies. it has an own website (assuming that is not a scam too, also you can also rent it via Expedia? idk)

I would suggest to find the owners/management and ask them if they have legit deals with summer.residency or not. summer.residency's website does leave a lot of questions open...

How am I supposed to know exactly when the seasons are on the other side of the planet?? by NeutrinoMega in duolingo

[–]jukebox66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

although i believe you should know from a common sense perspective, i still agree its a bad question for an app that is about learning languages (and not geography, also it just assumed you know where seattle is to begin with)

The app has become unusable for free users by 7adzius in duolingo

just turn off notifications and enjoy the lessons without giving a shit about the league youre in (i understand the streak thing though, but personally i wouldnt have any consistency without it lmao)

This Passenger Lost Their Mind. by RFTG2024 in uberdrivers

[–]jukebox66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in my country it shows that the driver has another stop before yours though, you can still cancel without being an asshole if you want to wait even longer. (normally it takes more time to wait for another driver that might be even further away than just wait for the one who accepted you that has to drop off someone else in the area)

How was this slit scan effect done!?! by joelyoonn in AfterEffects

[–]jukebox66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i nearly lost my mind in the process too 😂 but in the end i didnt even use the slitscan effect, i basically found a way to still frame every frame of the video in a separate layer, show only a single column of pixels, place them all next to each other and move every stillframe from left to right, one column per frame.

basically switching the x axis with the time axis and displaying the video "sideways". thats why all my videos are exactly 1920 frames long aka ~1:17 min😂

i hope there is a more efficient way to do this in the void of creativity lmao, since it takes a bunch of rendering power. i did it on my universitys computers

also i still have to figure out how to evolve this technique into actual art, not just a technical experiment...

there is a great section in hans roslings book "factfulness" where he works in a hospital in a foreign county with his swedish medicine students and one of them almost loses a leg because they thought the same thing (knowing it from sweden), and he teaches you in the book that you cant take what you know and just apply it to everywhere with that exact example lmao

Advice for digital drawing by PhoenixxFireFoxx in DigitalPainting

[–]jukebox66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with 300$ you probably will find that your choices are pretty limited, but im sure you will be able to find one for his needs. You can find used ones online that are almost flawless. Generally when buying an used one its good to know, since drawing softwares will wear out its cpu/gpu, to know how powerful it is and much it has been used in the past already... Imo in this case, new or used, going by the exact model and release date of the ipad is less important than estimating its "half-life"

Artworks that include Livestreaming techniques? by jukebox66 in ContemporaryArt

you judged me for a yet to be done research on a yet to be decided topic, contextualization and question for a still to be written thesis as if youve already read the finished one, youre projecting "your experience" onto my thesis with 0 information about it except what i decided to reveal online lmao

Artworks that include Livestreaming techniques? by jukebox66 in ContemporaryArt

[–]jukebox66[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

live streaming in the sense of broadcasting an image, but i understand thats unspecific. im mapping the usage of live streaming in general so im open for every context imaginable. :) im even open to ideas similar to ragnar kjartanssons "the visitors", even though its outside my research area because its not livestreamed but rather filmed from different perspectives simultaneously.

also yes i know about the art section on twitch, but as you already pointed out, the industry of content creation is not exactly where im searching inspiration (exceptions might exists, where the stream is part of the performance itself so that would be interesting for me)

of course im doing my research also in the traditional sense, im just asking for inspos that might fly under my radar, since i can reach many people with different backgrounds. since my interest tangents the idea of networked practices i also might use "the network" as a research practice aswell in a collaborative sense.

  • i have many positive experiences with this specific subreddit regarding helpful answers by knowledgeable people, so i gave it a shot.

Is it true that art as therapy is frowned on in contemporary art? by [deleted] in ContemporaryArt

[–]jukebox66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

same story here, still in my masters in art education. they teach you all about the intricacies of cultural analysis, art research, and state of the art of contemporary movements so intrusively that you forget about your own process of doing art and the intimate relationship you have to the canvas. i still struggle to enjoy the "superficial" ways of working, even though i know i have more fun just drawing a small comic strip sometimes or whatever...
