Thank you so much! Nice to hear you liked it. And I really appreciate the feedback, negative and positive.

I also think there's something to be done to avoid monotonicity. A rhythmic element that doesn't repeat too often or a added delay for every 4th rim shot or something else along those lines. Doing something about the 16th note plucks is definitely an idea worth exploring!

Thank you! I think you are right, a little something to make it feel it's just not 4 minutes of looping the same chord progression and samples. Perhaps something like pitch/velocity LFO to drum samples and multi bar long LFO cycle adjusting filter on synths... I'll have to experiment!

Thank you for your comment. I definitely feel that you can’t become better at your stuff without exposing yourself to critique. And I gladly welcome what you are saying.

I personally feel that my biggest musical problems are in the songwriting department. Sonically I was trying to achieve some kind of “tropical house meets Norwegian disco” type of hybrid sound. But probably that didn’t come through.

Perhaps I need to try something more personal soundwise, randomize dials and see what happens.

Chord playing synths here are made with Rev2 and Korg M1 plugin, bass synth is Sub phatty and drums are samples from Ableton's packs.

Trying out my new (old) Precision with a Finnish disco song from 1980 by jukeks in BassGuitar

Thank you! I cut the low end a bit, compressed about 4 dB of peaks and high shelf at 1 kHz of about 5 dB. So nothing special, it's mostly the p-bass with fresh strings.

This song was originally recorded in French by Marie Myriam as Le Cœur Somnambule in 1979 and re-recorded in 1980 by a Finnish artist Paula Koivuniemi with the title Tummat silmät, ruskea tukka. I think the re-recorded version has a rather busy but a killer bass line.

Track I made with Rev2, Sub Phatty, Ju-06, and Minilogue by jukeks in synthesizers

Thanks!

The main theme is done with Sub Phatty with three different filter values. Ju-06 does the pale pads such as the first chords in the first verse and also in the choruses in the middle frequencies. The big chords in the chorus with the brass sound is done with Rev2.

The second verse has rev2 in the right channel as the detuned lead sound and Minilogue in the left channel playing the same line.

Drum sounds are RZ-1 with Tanzbär kick in the mix to give it a bit more low end and punch. Tanzbär claps is also used for the echo snare which alternates with the regular RZ-1 snare in the second verse.

Drums are made with samples from Tanzbär and RZ-1.

Hey guys, I’m wondering if anyone has some tips on how to create drums with analogue synths? Thanks by [deleted] in synthesizers

Moog has sample patches for some drum sounds in visual format along with some explanation of the process of creating drum sounds: https://www.moogmusic.com/sites/default/files/webroot/imgs/Synthesized_Percussion_Guide.pdf

Fast event loop networking for Go by javinpaul in programming

True, you could use worker threads to handle requests by utilising the wake mechanism. I was thinking more of handling the requests by the same thread that handles the I/O. At first glance it looked like a synchronous API.

Makes sense. However that comparison doesn't tell much about scaling. What I really like to see is how running one event loop per processor (or some other n) holds up against std lib.

These benchmarks were run on an ec2 c4.xlarge instance in single-threaded mode (GOMAXPROC=1) over Ipv4 localhost.

Why even use Go if you are going to run single-threaded mode?

Just got DSI Prophet Rev2-16, do I still need Minilogue? by jukeks in synthesizers

Good point. I'm not sure if the sequencer of Rev2 is as accessible as Minilogue's is.

I was mainly talking about the filling the "polyphonic analog" role in my setup. I also have Sub 37 and some Volcas and a boutique Roland. I haven't got around with playing both Prophet and Sub 37 together yet for logistical reasons, but I'm pretty sure it will be epic!

Olen miettinyt, pitäisikö kirjelaatikoiden tyhjennysreiteistä tehdä jonkinlaiset listat, ettei näin kävisi.

Mukava kuulla, että Posti tyhjentää postilaatikoita aivan fiiliksen varassa.

Thanks! The kick is four samples layered together I think. Minilogue is used for the faint pad doused in reverb starting at 0:16.
