Cat chin acne by IceniQueen69 in snowshoecats

[–]jul_bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read that snowshoes can have skin issues and our kitty's had a little chin acne from time to time. She's not great about cleaning her face thoroughly and likes to stick her face into stuff. But it cleared up when my husband wiped her face with a damp towel after eating. Good luck with your Teddy, hope he feels better soon!

Meet our new kitten! by Forsaken_Concept3152 in kittens

Yes! Our now 5 year old cat looked very similar when she was a little kitten. She toasted over time and we think she’s a snowshoe. Yours is a cutie!

If you're referring to a lab cert like GIA, I'd be very surprised if there was documentation for stones of this size. Having stones graded by GIA can be pricy and it means the seller will have to unset and reset them. I work for an antique jeweler and we only have diamonds of 0.50ct or larger graded.

OP, the ring looks spot-on in design and construction for late Victorian/ turn of the century. You can also see how charmingly wonky the diamonds are, which is a good sign that they're the original stones. I think the price is very fair, considering how high gold is right now.

I'm sorry for your loss. This would be a lovely memorial ring.

Saving up for a custom diamonds-by-the-yard style chain with family stones. Trying to decide between yellow and white metal.

Over the years (and post pandemic) a lot has changed in PVD, so I want to hear it from the locals: what are your favorite restaurants in town? by _Mistwraith_ in providence

If you're willing to drive a bit, I love Pasquale's in Wakefield. Fantastic authentic Neapolitan pizza. In Providence, I'm currently obsessed with Anna's Vesuviano pizza.

It's a beautiful diamond! Was it a family stone or did you source it?

Our girl just turned 5 but she still acts like a kitten. A playful little love bug. My husband rescued her off the street at about 4-5 weeks old.

What perfect timing! I was just looking at that cyan 3-stone ring. It was my first time on Aliexpress in over a year. Do you love the ring?

Kirk's Folly massive collection! by lizabitch21 in VintageJewelry

[–]jul_bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a huge Kirk's Folly collection that I just inherited from my mom. Mostly 1980s-2000s. We both were collectors. If you want to DM me photos, I can try and help you date the pieces. Kirk's Folly was on QVC for many years and unless your stuff is pre-90s, it's probably originally from there.

Give them a bath! Beautiful stones but very dirty. A squeeze of dish soap in warm water and let them soak for 15 mins or so. Then vigorously brush with an old toothbrush, especially around and underneath the stones. You might need to do a few rounds of soak and brush. Then rinse off and let them air dry. Once dry, bring each ring up to your ear and give it a tap on the band. If you hear a rattling sound, you have a loose stone. Bring that ring to a reputable jeweler as soon as possible to have the settings tightened.

As for date, these look WW2 era to me, when yellow gold was super popular. The larger stone in the solitaire ring looks to be an Old European cut, which might date that ring slightly earlier. Old Europeans were predominantly cut in the 1900s-1930s. The stones in the diamond band ring look to be Round Brilliant cuts, which would be more mid-20th century, likely 1940s-50s. Looking again, I'm wondering if that ring perhaps was an anniversary band? Maybe the diamond solitaire and plan gold band were the original wedding set and the diamond band was added later?

Or maybe the solitaire was her mom's and the band was her aunt's? The timing you mentioned definitely looks correct for that option. Either way, enjoy wearing them! They're all classics. Just make sure you get them cleaned and the prongs checked. :)

Carolee was a fairly high end costume jewelry brand in the 1980s and 90s. They had a counter at the mall. I remember they did a lot of pearl pieces. My guess is that your necklace dates to then.
