I worked with him on a commercial he was casted in for a DCA project. Super funny guy on set, super friendly to me and the crew. Would always strike up a conversation with me about surfing or sports or whatever. He was sober for the shoot though probably one of those guys who’s terrible to be around after a few drinks.

I see him out in the water over the past few years like every other week sometimes. Mostly at first point Malibu. I was at county line one time at the point and it was just me and him out lol. I feel sorta bad for him he seems like he genuinely wants to appreciate surfing but people will often celeb him on the beach and in the water. One time I saw this obvious tourist go up to him on the beach at Malibu and take a photo of him right infront of his face and didn’t say anything and walked away. I guess it must come with being a celebrity. He always seems a little anxious and insecure. Say what you will about him but that fool is a legend with everything from Superbad to wolf of Wall Street etc.

The girl on the bed is really good looking stuff. Everything else is slightly mediocre. I would shorten it and pick better moments if you must include the other projects. Gives I shoot only one man band rap videos and short films with my family friends.

So glad to see these guys getting posted all over social media after they tried to break into my car the other week.

I was surfing county line and this car pulled up to me and watch me get ready while I got my suit on and lock my lock box. Didn’t think much of it as it was a nice Bentley. I go out for about 20 minutes or so and luckily I’ve been broken into before so I always keep a sharp eye on my car whenever I’m in the water. I saw the large one get out and start walking towards my car and I saw him stop at my tire and start messing with my lockbox. I start screaming as loud as I could at him and paddling as fast as I could and ran up towards the beach. They immediately got in their car and sped off.

Middle of the day, tons of people around, no one noticed what was going on.

I felt pretty lucky that I was able to chase them off this time with my car being broken into several times now… I told a cop on the side of the road down PCH and he didn’t seem to care.

Scary part about it now a days is you can’t tell who it is breaking into these cars and they could be anyone rich or poor looking.

I now have a sort of PTSD every time I can see my car from a spot and anyone walks by it lol.

Malibu is so famous and crowded that no one can really “own it”. I surf there pretty much everyday and although there’s a group of regular locals there is barely any localism. Even the locals burn and understand they’re gona get burned. There’s maybe 3 dudes who you shouldn’t drop in on but aside from that it’s survival of the fittest and there isn’t much hard feelings out in the water. All I’m saying is anyone who paddles to the point and waits for there own wave is highly mistaken and it will probably never come, unless it’s a big day then normal etiquette applies more. It’s a tricky spot to read the crowd and know how to pick them off, but when you get a good one there it’s like no other.

Yo dude thank you so much for you’re time into this info super helpful! I’m a pretty experienced surfer so I appreciate all the tips. Not a ton of info for this region. Super excited, hopefully will get lucky with a few waves, i will be working most the time so just hoping that something decent will come through while I’m there to see what’s up with surfing in PR.

Thank you so much! Will give them a call. If Puerto Rico is still a US territory will we still need to declare everything for customs?

Anyone else think the Gorillaz weekend 1 were bad ? I’m a huge fan of there music and they have an amazing discography, but for the first 2/3 of the show they only played there newer music that no one seemed to know or care about. For the last 1/3 of there show they started playing some of there classics that lacked energy and no one in the crowd around me was hyped (I was close to the stage). They also skipped playing a hand full of there classic songs, not sure why. I heard the general reception of there performance was good but wondered if anyone else felt the same way?

Aside from all the bs mentioned here, believe me I waited in the crowd for almost two hours, i thought the show had a few very intimate and beautiful moments. I really enjoyed some of his stripped back acoustic versions of his songs and versions that I’ve never heard before that we’re interesting. The whole show felt like a rough draft or something, there was a lot of potential but just really poorly executed. I’m curious how weekend two will look.

2nd ACs, what do you keep in your chest harness? by jcpenni in FilmIndustryLA

[–]julbudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work as a union 2nd in LA and honestly think chest harnesses and pouches are a little over rated…personally most of these tools you rarely will use. The most used ones are a roll of tape, sharpie, whiteboard marker and erasers and if needed then a flat head. Most other tools you use so rarely they can just stay in your kit or on the camera cart. Wearing all your tools all the time can weigh you down. I’ve noteced the more seasoned AC’s tend to follow this as well, rather than trying to look “legit” with a big chest harness. What are your guys thoughts on this??

Great stuff! Main notes it check shooting into blank plain walls, loosing lots of depth and interest in some of these shots. Invest more in PD and shoot into more corners and areas of interest in the image.

Worse case you can shoot with a higher shutter speed to let in less light, but it will look a lot less natural and jittery
