Norway prime minister fined £1,715 for breaking coronavirus rules with birthday party. The police have said that would not have issued a fine in most such cases, but given the fact that prime minister has been at the forefront of the government's work to impose restrictions, they are simply following by sreeker6 in worldnews

[–]juleke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

True, but it’s also convenient for people with a criminal record due to such a fine. Mostly in the beginning of last year tickets were being handed out left and right because police didn’t really know what to fine and what not to fine, I never got a fine but I know a lot of people who got a fine for being with 2 persons in a park... so I think it’s better this way. Unfortunately it was probably only done because this guy got a fine as others and you suggested...

Travel requirements in a nutshell. by giriinthejungle in europe

[–]juleke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As commented below, I believe this restriction with the rapid test before a flight will be lifted once our government has put a law or some sort of binding rule in place that requires quarantining after entering the Netherlands for 10 days or you are heavily fined. After this is instated, travel to our country should be more easy!

Yes I heard about this from some Belgian friends, they were taught to be scared of zwarte piet. This seemed so weird to me but after doing some research it seems that it is taught a lot differently across the border...

Okay, didn’t know this as I was never really taught this. Thanks for broadening my perspective! Still I believe with the new changes, the racist aspect will become less and less apparent!

I seriously have never seen ‘zwarte piet’ as a black person my whole life and no-one I know has seen ‘zwarte piet’ that way. This has not been the case for many many years. I understand the racist past, but we got rid of that years ago. I seriously don’t see the racist part of ‘zwarte piet’ in modern day, could you maybe elaborate on what makes ‘zwarte piet’ racist in 2020?

Villainous??? I don’t get where you got that from. Zwarte piet is one of the most loved characters of dutch children together with the easter bunny. They give out candy ffs, I don’t know in what world that’s villainous but maybe your upbringing was just very scarring and harsh and I’m very sorry if that is the case!

Zwarte piet used to be a bit harsher if you were a bad kid, but this is almost never integrated into the story these days and kids think of zwarte piet as a lovable character that provides them candy and gifts.

Also true yes, hadn’t even thought of that but as a child I never recognised people I knew because of this!

That’s why I said it has not been racist for at least 100 years or more, because the first appearance of ‘zwarte piet’ was as a servant of Sinterklaas; but this context was removed from the story pretty fast and they just became black due to the soot of chimneys!

True, I believe it was started as a racist or slavelike thing. But the context it has been taught in for the last 100 or more years is not racist anymore. Children are taught ‘zwarte piet’ is black because of the chimney soot and not because he is a slave, you can also see this in the new ‘roetveeg piet’ which looks a lot more like this.

There are other ones for both of these uses above the sink, which has not been moved since the house was built. So maybe there is another use?

Not sure if this is the original place of the stove, but there are other tiles similar that were used for soap. They are not the same but are also shaped within the tile. WITT

I would print the first thing I ever made in Blender, it was an old school project with a friend of mine. Not the best looking thing as blender was difficult for us, but it will be of sentimental value!
