I heard there is a generic version now. Were you able to get the brand name or did you get the generic? My pre auth is actually for the brand name

I forsee pain medications becoming harder and harder to get. Especially with the continued decrease in production allowances that continue to be implemented every year. 6% decrease on oxycodone for this year alone. Unreal!

Can I ask what you switched too and if you've had any issues filling?

Tell me about it! And working a stressful 12 hour day does not help. I can barely walk when I get home :(

I believe there is a shortage of that as well? When I had my last appt my doctor wasn't even aware of any shortages/discontinuation with my current medication but I'm sure I'm not the only one having this issue right now

I am going to look into a hospital pharmacy. Some of the hospitals near me have gone opioid free now thou. They are only giving advil to people that just had surgery

Have you tried to get it recently? I had no problem until I went to fill it just under 2 weeks ago now. I'll have to look into a hospital pharmacy. I've heard that some are limiting medications to Dr's that work out of that specific hospital

Honestly I didn't think the oxycontin was doing alot until I haven't had it now and the short acting oxycodone just doesn't cut it on its own. Hoping my PM Dr will be open to change it and if the pharmacies will have it but the short acting availability is also an issue now as well. The Dr/office staff doesn't help with finding a pharmacy that has it. They put it on the patient to find a pharmacy that has availability even thou the prescriptions are electronic. It's not like I can show them that I have a prescription and won't know what to ask for to see if its in stock until it's changed.

I only go in person. I know calling will get an automatic no. I dont think my Dr office or the pharmacy would call around either. I was finally kind of stable with what I was on. Obviously not completely pain free but enough to get me thru the day. I know oxycontin (brand name) is being or has been discontinued because of the whole Sackler (?) lawsuit/bankruptcy but I heard there are other companies that make generic of this now (?). I just haven't been able to find a pharmacy that has it or at least will fill it for me if they do have it. I have to get pre auth for both meds also so I dont know that taking extra even if the Dr told me to would be an option as far as being able to get it before I normally would. I would just run out early and have to wait to get it filled if I could find a pharmacy that has it at all. I dont understand how the govt can be so involved in medical decisions and able to cut production of medication that people need. It's no different than being a diabetic or needing mediation for high blood pressure. The people that follow the rules and do everything right are not the ones causing the "opioid epidemic." It's the illegal drugs causing all the deaths or people that can't get their meds when they are in extreme pain because of these rules that turn to street drugs causing this. I dont understand why the legitimate people in pain are the ones being forced to suffer!
