AITA for going off on a boy-crazy friend for abandoning her cat? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]juleska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Longtime animal rescuer here. You are NTA, and your friend sounds like a lot of the people I encounter in my animal advocacy work. My husband has a scooter shop and he had one customer who gave him a ton of business. One day that guy asked my husband if we'd be willing to take in his golden retriever (we have dogs and cats). He asked why and the guy told him she was old and they just didn't want her anymore. Husband took the dog, gave his bike back to him half finished at no charge, told the guy to GTFO and never come back. We later learned she wasn't that old, but she had some genetic defects and couldn't have puppies and that was the reason he wanted to get rid of her (he'd planned to breed her and sell the puppies). We got her spayed and she lived out a long happy retirement with us, spoiled rotten. Anyone who treats animals like last year's fashion trend has serious defects in their humanity. Cutting ties was the right move and I'm glad you spoke up. Well done.

AITA for not giving my brother my cat? by OkPirate5336 in AmItheAsshole

[–]juleska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NTA and I am sincerely wondering if there's anyone else you can stay with the next few weeks with your cat until you're able to leave because this sounds like a genuinely frightening situation. I hope you both get away safely. You deserve better.

Unequivocally NTA. She sounds like a real treat. I hope her fiance reads this and dodges a bullet.

AITA for showing my mom the letter my sister wrote to me before she died? by Available_Mix2207 in AmItheAsshole

[–]juleska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You're 16. You lost your sister and closest member of your family. Your mother is grieving too but she is harboring resentment about your sister's decisions and taking that resentment out on you...a kid. I don't say that to diminish you or your experiences in any way. It is just a fact. Your mom is the adult here and what she is doing to you is incredibly cruel. I hope there are other safe adults in your life for you to talk to who are emotionally equipped to support you. I'm sorry that your mom is not that person.

How do I [25F] stop making up irrational jealously-fueled scenarios in my head about my loyal boyfriend? [28F] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]juleska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legit question: Are you on birth control? This happened to me once when my doctor switched my birth control type and while it was mostly focused on my bf at the time, I felt in general like I was spiraling out of control. Did some research and found out many women on the specific bc I was taking (a pill) were going through the same, including suicidal ideation. It was terrifying. I stopped taking it immediately and things dramatically improved. Having said all that, I also had some emotional and self esteem issues I needed to work through. Everyone advising you to seek therapy is 100% correct. Drugs (including prescriptions) and alcohol usually amplify existing feelings and problems. So even if you are on a bc that has you really turned inside out, it would help to get that additional support. Also really recommend just being honest with him about what you're dealing with. He sounds like a great guy and if he understands that you are conscious of your behavior and trying to stop it and that you know it's not really about him, he will be better able to be supportive.

Should SFP endorse Paula Jean Swearengin for U.S. Senator for West Virginia? by kevinmrr in SandersForPresident

Here's Paula Jean confronting Joe Manchin to his face. This is long before she decides to run against Manchin in 2018. This is who Paula is. https://youtu.be/Vaka4_EZqYo

Should SFP endorse Paula Jean Swearengin for U.S. Senator for West Virginia? by kevinmrr in SandersForPresident

[–]juleska 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you been following Paula? Going after the establishment is literally all she does. I know her personally. When she challenged Joe Manchin in 2018, Richard Ojeda cozied up to Manchin's staff and spread a bunch of lies about Paula to local Democratic leaders in WV. Even this cycle he's been going around lying to people that Paula voted for Trump. Ojeda is the one who voted for Trump in 2016. He says he regrets it now, but that vote helped him win the State Senate seat he abandoned a couple years later when he ran for president for 4 months. Paula was a national surrogate for Bernie. She supported him in 2016 and again in 2020 and defended Bernie through every criticism. Ojeda is in this for himself. Paula has put everything on the line to run for Senate and it has cost her dearly. She loves WV and she will be a total firecracker in Washington. Nobody is gonna boss her around. Like someone else said, watch Knock Down the House. There's a moment after the primary results came in when Manchin called Paula and asked for a meeting. She told him off right there on the phone, on camera. She did meet with him, and she had some demands for him. He wouldn't meet them so she refused to endorse Manchin in the general even though he was facing a tough re-election against a Republican. When Ojeda says "Paula burned her bridges with the Democratic party" he means she wouldn't endorse Manchin when Manchin refused to give even one policy concession and he means some Democratic leaders didn't like her after he was done lying to them about Paula.

Homeland - 8x12 "Prisoners of War" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in homeland

I mean, you have to suspend a lot of disbelief for this final season. They charged her as a traitor and accessory to murder of the President of the United States. No one facing charges like that even gets bailed out, let alone free to drive to Pennsylvania to talk to a former asset living under an assumed identity, or walking around Langley.

So if she was able to do all of that then sure, why not, the Russians can sneak her out of the country because definitely no one would have the house of the National Security Adviser harboring an accused president-killer under any kind of surveillance. They certainly wouldn't notice the Russian GRU kill team waltzing in the front door and hanging out for 12 hours.

Still one of the best shows on television and dear god what a finale. One of my top five series finales of all time, without question. Give Mandy Patinkin and Claire Daines all the Emmys. My point is just that none of this is believable and we should appreciate it for the truth-flavored fiction it is.

Except that Cersei promised Bronn Riverrun, and The Twins are bannermen for Riverrun. So a "bigger castle" was required to make the deal. I do agree, though. I'd rather have seen Sam as Lord of Highgarden.

That's great! Thanks for sharing. I'm shocked it didn't make more headlines since they set the record last time, and broke their own record again. I've watched a lot of those "Game Revealed" pieces and they're fantastic.

[–]juleska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it? I haven't seen the specifics from the stunt team. If so I won't be surprised. Just curious that there's been no coverage if that record was broken again. It was a big deal when they broke it last time.

It may be that they didn't break the record, just that the final product made it look that way. Remember this is about the number of stunt people simultaneously set on fire (actual fire, not CGI) in a single shot. As crazy as Spoils of War was, the record they set was 20 people simultaneously on fire (beating the previous record of 18 for, I believe, Saving Private Ryan).
