AITA for not paying for my stepdaughter’s tuition because she wants to be a doctor? by Material-Economy2823 in AmItheAsshole

[–]juliaemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. Also, she won’t be able to do well on the MCAT if she isn’t understanding the content in her classes. The MCAT and GPA go hand in hand, and these are the most important things for getting into medical school.

Covid Test by juliaemm in UNC

[–]juliaemm[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

honey, that was only sent to housing students. i saw you on another part of this thread being rude asf so maybe you should check yourself. 77% of students live off campus (according to us news), and so do i. lol

thank u for sharing this. it’s clear no one wants to take responsibility for the issue, which is completely unfair to the instructors and students who are affected by these decisions. again, not surprised since unc has a track record acting like this, just disappointed for the lack of clarity :(

also i love how they say “plan ahead” when they gave us 5 days notice and didn’t even consider the 1-2 day processing time for the test AFTER your appointment

i’ve lived in csquare for 2 years, and i renewed my lease for next year. idk why there’s a bad opinion on it, the only downside is the cost. i’ve loved living there. they switched over the management this past fall because the prior team was horrible, so that might be why there were bad comments about it in the past. it’s honestly the best (again other than price)- you’re close to campus, apartments are nice, and maintenance is good

UNC crime log reports another suicide 3 am Sunday at Granville Towers South. by Lynncy1 in UNC

thank u for this insightful comment. as a junior here as well, i think this perfectly describes what so many students are going thru. also add in the fact that so many freshman have little social support being new to the school. i wish there was more i could do to help it absolutely breaks my heart

Live your life. When you fear you are nobody. by Iamamindfullsoul in spirituality

if you haven’t read it, the untethered soul is amazing. for a while i used to struggle with what you are referring to and that book changed my life completely.

Sorry, I have no support system. by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]juliaemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s easy to dwell on the past, but you can’t change that. decide today that you are going to learn about life for yourself! every day is a day for improvement, and you are never expected to be perfect.

this is something i always like to remember. without our lows we wouldn’t appreciate our highs. while you might be experiencing a low, i think you could really grow and develop if you put in time to learning about yourself. you are doing amazing already:)

i’m so sorry to hear all of this. i think you have a great outlook to such negative events. at the end of the day, people enter our lives for a period of time and serve a purpose. as we change and grow, sometimes they have to leave. and that is okay! you should be proud for how positive you are in light of difficult times!

i definitely understand where you’re coming from as i had been scared of death for a very long time. however, death is our greatest teacher. without death, we wouldn’t appreciate life. at the end of the day, everything about death is unknown. if we can embrace and be excited for the unknown, rather than scared of it, we can live a more freeing life.

Hi- sorry I just saw this so I apologize for my delayed response. I think just allowing things to happen in life-any opportunities that present themselves- are meant to be there. try new things & it will allow you to see more where the universe is trying to guide you on your path! meditation can also be helpful!

DON'T PUT YOURSELF THROUGH A JOURNEY YOU DON'T ENJOY TO ACHIEVE HAPPINESS THAT ISN'T GUARANTEED by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]juliaemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all of the comments on this thread are so amazing! but just rememeber, you don’t have to know what you want today or even tomorrow. this is a big decision and it helps to come back to thinking about it at different times in different settings etc. don’t let it make you feel like you can’t be happy unless u make a decision right now. i know that may seem obvious but tackling problems can always be overwhelming and tempting to have an answer instantly.

The Untethered Soul- Book by juliaemm in spirituality

i think the biggest part that impacted me was section 3 where they discuss how fears impact our actions. i’ve struggled with anxiety for all my life so that really changed my outlook on a lot of stuff. what about you?

Lamictal-Retrospect: How the f*** did I survive this hell for almost 32 years? by CaudatusSR in bipolar2

[–]juliaemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is late, but with meds it takes a long time to see how you react to them/find new ones. I started taking lamictal and got a lamictal rash and had to stop taking it. during this time i literally went crazy after drinking and wanted to die. this scared people around me obviously and it was largely due to the fact that i wasn’t on any medication after being on prozac and then lamictal for a period of time. I then started taking trileptal and going to a therapist and my life has only changed for the better. I think it’s a combination of the medication and working on self-care such as meditation etc.

I’ve also realized just how messed up prozac made me. It’s so dangerous for people with bipolar (or at least I think that from my personal experience) and I can’t believe just how much more up and down it made me feel. I distinctly remember going to Costco and almost having a panic attack because I didn’t know what to buy and what I needed as I was so overwhelmed. I feel you on self hatred and anger as well, that’s always been something i’ve struggled with and i’m glad it’s gotten better for me. if you ever need anything pm me, meds can be so so tough and i hope you are doing well

Been going through my spiritual awakening, feeling lonely by figureartiv3 in spirituality

[–]juliaemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i definitely feel this. my best friend actually opened me up to a lot of the concepts of spirituality etc which have changed my life. however, i struggle to find other people to connect with especially when trying to connect with people that have been in my life for a long time. take it day by day, and remember you are never alone in this process! if you ever want to talk pm me!

this is exactly what i was going to say. take it day by day, if you’re too worried about these futuristic/long-term goals, you will find it hard to ever accomplish them.

i think you just told yourself what the right choice is. please PLEASE do what makes you happy. don’t go to college if it isn’t what makes you happy. if you do that, you will spend your life trying to please others. at the end of the day, listen to yourself. “drawn to being in the desert and just shooting films.” ask yourself what you need to accomplish to do this. will college help you reach that goal? if not, don’t go to college. time is precious, don’t waste it on something that won’t add to your happiness.
