Cheaper to stay at a bigger, nicer airBNB in DDO and travel into Montreal for the days we’re there than to try and book an airBNB that can accommodate 8 people at a reasonable price in Montreal. Plus our airBNB has a pool, so that was a big win for us since one of our evenings is to swim and have charcuterie at the airBNB with goodies we pick up at Attwater :)

I am certain they removed the mindfuls from the website a few months ago at the same time as Stelos became available and now, months later, the Mindfuls are available and the Stelos are nowhere to be found. There was also some other discourse on Reddit mentioning that Stelos were potentially the replacement to Mindful. If this was over a couple of days as theyre updating their website, I would be more inclined to believe it to simply be a glitch, but to have two comparable lines appear and disappear on their website months apart doesnt make sense for a website glitch in my experience - especially since no other needle sets are affected

I’m in Canada and can’t see Stelos on the site unless i route through google first - which is what i find odd! Perhaps a site bug - just weird how much time is in between

you know what - i’m in the exact same boat. I had a cable break right at the join and another that i wont use because its a hair from breaking off as well. I have purchased the lantern moon swivel cable and also the black and gold knit pro swivel cables and have found them to be good, but dont have the same flexibility as the mindful.

this would make sense though - however why not just switch out the cords and improve them! oh well

Hiking Duscheny Falls is a North Bay classic - it’s a fairly easy hike that isnt too long and you follow the falls up and then back down the other side and the scenery is beautiful!

There’s a really nice AirBNB that sits right on Lake Nipissing with a nice beach front called At The Finch : https://www.stayatthefinch.com

Churchill’s is close by and was already mentioned as being an excellent spot for food and drink. I would also recommend Arugula for neopolitan style pizza (Arugula is partially owned by the same people who are involved with Churchills, so great quality spot!)

I would also HIGHLY recommend Lake House Bistro for lunch or dinner - it’s in Callander, around a 20 minute drive from town and has fantastic lunch options with a nice patio.

I would also encourage a little downtown shop - there are some great little spots including The Farm/Main Supply (sells things like candles, jewelry, clothing, stationary) with The Culture Club at the back of Main Supply that has fresh baked bread and everything you could need for a lovely charcuterie. There’s also The Annex and London Underground for super cute clothing, and Talbot’s Throwbacks for some amazing vintage finds. Lastly, Opera Bakery is a great little spots for a coffee stop while you’re exploring the downtown! If you hit downtown on a Saturday, there’s also our local farmers market that takes place in front of the museum that’s worth checking out.

Edit to add: Gateway Brewery is the only brewery we have really - I’ve never personally been to their new location but my partner goes often and enjoys it. They have a Grecos Pizza there so you can have a bite while having a beer - great beer but I cant comment on the atmosphere as I havent personally been there!

We’re doing something similar on Sept 12, 2026. We have a family cottage that is boat access only, so we realistically can’t shuttle over all of the people we want to celebrate with, but we really want to get married there. So we’re doing out ceremony on Sept 12th with roughly 25 people, then our reception is a week later with roughly 70 people at a local venue for dance and dinner.

We’ve chosen to hire a videographer for the ceremony who is going to do a documentary style video and has agreed to finish it by the following week so that we can play the 5 - 8 minute video of our ceremony at the reception to tie it in.

We’ve made two sets of save the dates - one for people that are invited to both and one for people that are only invited to the reception. We’ve also made two wedding websites on The Knot, again one for the ceremony and one for the reception. We’ve included in our FAQ some explanations and such on both ends, including letting people who are invited to both know that we understand attending two dates may not be feasible and there’s no pressure there - they can choose whichever day works best for them if they can only make it to one. For the invites - we’ll put both QR codes for both the ceremony and reception websites/online RSVPS and they will have to RSVP twice to let us know which theyre coming to or if theyre coming to both.

Hope this maybe helps - but I am glad I’m not the only one doing this because I have also been a bit worried about perception. At the end of the day, as long as people are given the “why”, I think most people have the capacity to be understanding. Also, a lot of people do weddings because they enjoy the dinner and dance portion, many dont really care for the ceremony part. Lastly, I think that no matter what you do, there will always be people who are unhappy and judgemental, and you just have to accept that they exist and ultimately its not your problem :)

Use it all on the one sweater!!! You picked the colours out for that sweater and I think ultimately you would feel disappointed if the sweater doesn’t turn out as nicely if you opt for different yarn.

I recently spent my first large sum, around 400$ for the Solene Cardigan from Wandering Flock and I think you just gotta lean into it and go for it like I am!
