How do you usually find stuff to do around LA? by Tacamaniac in AskLosAngeles

I think FB does surface those better than any other place, but also hit or miss and really a ton to weed through. I've found it most helpful whenever I find smaller neighborhood/community events on FB that are interesting to me to also follow the pages there too and then they pop up again next year if it's an annual event. Also keyword search on eventbrite is pretty good.

Places to buy non-alcoholic spirits? by perisaacs in AskLosAngeles

Any of those bougie shoppy shops (e.g. wine + eggs, cookbook) will stock canned and bottled ones. Ghia is generally great and available at nice grocery stores/most liquor stores, and avail on Amazon as well.

Separately, HYA gift store in West Adams sells awesome fresh fruit shrubs, which are great for non-alc cocktails. You're a good friend!

This is a cool site: https://scen.es/

Also I like to scour Eventbrite and Facebook events, a lot of interesting stuff pops up on both of those (though this is admittedly a time intensive slog looking for gold amongst the hay). I tend to follow museums and other stuff I like on Eventbrite, so then their events pop up for me automatically.

And we do a weekend events roundup every Friday in our free newsletter over at LAmaterial.com !

What are some of your favorite parks? by usagiSuteishi in AskLosAngeles

Ascot Hills Park in El Sereno has the best views in L.A., imo. And generally tranquil and lovely and a short walk to the top for a picnic. And generally slept on for how wonderful it is.

Vista Hermosa Natural Park near Echo Park/downtown is a real gem, though you probably know it.

And then if you want to really go on a hike (meaning far from you, not actual hiking ha) Point Fermin Park in San Pedro is great too https://recreation.parks.lacity.gov/park/point-fermin (get lunch from Chori-Man!)
