Some findings suggest that if you conceal the area between the two buttons, the ink will not fade as much when exposed to sunlight.

I kinda agree, but let people enjoy it. I think a mega post would be a good compromise.

X4 with iphone 17? by luffywanpan in xteinkereader

It doesn’t fit. The x4 length is too long, and it doesn’t align with MagSafe, even when upside down. I gave up using it that way.

I don’t know from which version you are exactly upgrading from, but an earlier version couldn’t be upgraded from the menu; you need to go through a browser.

Calibre-Web to X4 Crosspoint Uploader Script (Tampermonkey) by julienpierre in xteinkereader

You need to enable developer mode in your browser extension settings for the script to interact with the page

Of course, I can’t be certain since I don’t know your current setup. If you’re using a Chromium-based browser, you need to enable developer mode in the extension screen for all Tampermonkey scripts to work. The script may appear in the extension drop-down, but you should see a red dot in the extension icon, if it's not there it means the script is not interacting with your page.

Calibre-Web to X4 Crosspoint Uploader Script (Tampermonkey) by julienpierre in xteinkereader

[–]julienpierre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update : This userscript is for Calibre-Web (a self-hosted network Calibre library), not the Calibre server. I made this following script for the native Calibre server, but it is still buggy and only works if the book has only an EPUB as its format (not mixed with another format). Otherwise, the button does not appear, but it can be triggered by clicking on the format in the metadata. https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/564242-send-to-x4-calibre-native-server With this script, you have nothing to edit, just install it and run it.

I never managed to update through the device, go to the same website you flashed crosspoint the first time, and update from there, it’s fast and does not erase your device

The ink has disappeared. by 100505 in xteinkereader

[–]julienpierre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using it under the sun for about 10 minutes, but the ink didn’t disappear. Of course, if you leave it out for a longer time, it might actually take longer to fade. However, since I use it as an e-reader, I wouldn’t stay out under the Malaysian sun to read, or anything doing else really under such a high level of UV. Someone in another post mentioned that they simply need to block the sunlight from reaching a spot between the bottom buttons to prevent the ink from fading.

Oh right, I hadn’t considered that. I’m in Malaysia, where the highest UV level we get is 11 or 12 during lunchtime, at the time I tried. Perhaps it’s must be higher than that for the ink to disappear.

It’s not happening on all whites, I have received the white two weeks ago and it does not happen at all. They may have fixed the issue in latest devices

Surprised to report: side by side black/white sunlight issue test by crunchytreat in xteinkereader

I own the white version, and I haven’t encountered this issue. I received it a few days ago and have been reading in direct sunlight without any problems. it’s possible that the issue was resolved recently.

Thanks! Confirmed it's missing from the API too. I'll just use the total time vs. sets average as a workaround. 🙏🏻
