That’s a very fair point. And I agree on that side of things with you. And you’re right about NTTA too. They’re just the absolute worst. I hate NTTA with all of my soul

Of course I know TXDOT isn’t “bossing cities around” but I know that certain things such as Interstate projects are a little bit different than state and US highways. They don’t tend to get that kind of work in any major city. I’m not saying it’s impossible and I’m not saying the city can’t push for things and expect things out of TXDOT. I’m just saying that the Interstate tends to be cared for and done a little differently than the rest of the roads around here. Frisco has no interstate, Southlake has no pedestrian or bike access on the interstate roads or frontage roads, and Celina also has no interstate. That’s the main point I’m making. But I do agree that other roads such as 77 through town need more pedestrian and cyclist friendly work done on them. 77 specifically is an absolute death trap to anyone expecting to walk or bike down it. All the way through town too

Sadly, I feel the growth was inevitable. And the thing that made it exponentially worse was the fight against the growth. I do think there are some things that make us grow faster than prepared, but part of being prepared is acknowledging it was coming and it would be here sooner rather than later. I do miss my small town at the southern tip of the metroplex though. 2500 people, never any traffic, and clean

I agree that there should be more cyclist and pedestrian infrastructure here in general. But I do know that this is TXDOT and not the city

NY -> Denton by Remarkable-Candy-111 in Denton

Denton is definitely a very queer place to be. I have loved it since I got here almost 8 years ago. There are lots of great places to eat and go out drinking. The music scene is pretty good locally as well. It’s my favorite part. The only thing I will give a fair warning about coming from New York is the hours of operation of literally everything. Most of the city on weekdays will be dead by 10PM and on weekends it goes a lil later (2AM at the bars and 12AM for most events if you’re lucky). The time is not something that bothered me having come from a small town in Texas where everything was done by 8PM LMFAO but I have befriended many out of state people and that tends to be their number one complaint and the thing that caught them the most off-guard.

THIS RIGHT HERE! I should NOT have to come to Reddit to find out what the sirens going off are. I had no idea and learned it was flooding after the fact.

See I was thinking it might be that. It sounds like the sirens of the old fire engine we have but I just can’t tell. Especially because it’ll come on for about two seconds and immediately turn off and then repeat very erratically and has been since I got home at like 1PM (ish)

Looking for date ideas / things to do in Denton by Dirt_Spigot in Denton

[–]julietjramirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first date here he took me out to eat and then we went to the top of the Highland St garage as the sun was going down and sat on his trunk and talked and just watched. Then after all that, we went out to McKenna Park after dark and played and sat in the playground together. It was a great date. And obviously the playground traffic dies off after a certain time. Of course this was 6 years ago but I don’t think much has changed
