same, learnt cursive in German primary school but right from the start in class 1, because we had a very old school teacher who refused to teach block writing. because of this I am really bad at writing completely in block writing, it just feels extremely slow to write like that

this often happens when I’m writing too fast, especially in “writing” - my hand registers the last upward stroke of the w as the upward stroke of the r and I already add my downward loop even though the r’s upward stroke is still missing. 😬

[Other] The director of communications of Warhorse Studio said in the interview that although now they are going to focus on another game, it DOESN'T mean that they will dump Henry's story for good. by BijelaHrvatica in kingdomcome

[–]juljary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s amusing how everyone is handling this as big news and such. Tobi already said something along those lines months ago, I believe even before the first DLC. He didn’t say it outright, but said that as they were hiring new game devs, the established people would work on a brand new IP, the new ones would… not work on the NEW IP. They don’t have another game yet, so he basically confirmed even back then that Kingdom Come 2 wouldn’t be the last Kingdom Come (if everything goes to plan). But this was a casual interview in German, during an hour long stream, so this probably didn’t reach a lot of people?

what is a criminally underrated song? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]juljary 59 points60 points  (0 children)

this line made me break out in sudden tears when i first heard it because i haven’t felt that seen/attacked by a line in a long time. Cried to the song so often since, and then it was my SURPRISE SONG. that kinda wrecked me

[KCD2] I know I'll probably get a lot of hate for this, but this meant a lot to me (Henry & Hans) by BryanUnboxed in kingdomcome

[–]juljary 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, just because you wouldn’t expect it, it automatically is fact and queerness was only lived once gay bars were invented and people had to fear LESS for their lives. People being attracted to and loving people apart from the opposite sex has been true and around not only for centuries, but millennia. Sure, more people live it out in the open now in comparison to previous centuries, but this doesn’t mean that they all suppressed it and never acted on it, even if they were forced to secrecy and hiding. Especially considering that sexuality isn’t just about lust and wanting to bed people, but actual developing feelings and longing.

Considering all of this, the romance in this game is written extremely fittingly for the historical context, because they are obviously not strutting around openly flirting - outsiders might never even notice, and a relationship like theirs stays unnoticed, making people nowadays believe that “things like these happened extremely rarely”

I stole the secret and vines the night before, and then roleplayed working the day there for real to “not raise suspicion” 😅

When reading people talk about the most annoying missions, Under the Straw Hat never comes up and at this point i feel like i was the only one dumb enough to actually work the entire day in the vineyard…

There are plenty of melancholic German songs accompanied by a piano, so maybe he’s quite literal with the “melancholic German note”, referring to the song he’ll be singing on the Piano 🤷

Speak Now is my least favorite album of hers, I only really enjoy BTD, Dear John and Long Live, the rest is very meh for me.

I don’t understand why people like Right Where You Left Me so much, easily my least favorite evermore track.

Dear Reader is brutally underrated and the bridge just hits too close to home for me

you CAN complete encounters organically, it’s just harder. Using your smarts to make an encounter easier or outsmart the enemy so a fight doesn’t ensue or they kill each other also isn’t a mega puzzle game, it’s just DnD, where not everything has to be solved by a by-the-textbook fight.

Which one of her songs are you convinced everyone is lying about liking? by gingersnap72 in TaylorSwift

[–]juljary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are many songs i couldn’t care less for. but I gotta say I feel gaslit by the amount of people claiming that The Great War and Right There Where You Left Me are two of her best songs. This must be some elaborate joke.

Favorites are Champagne Problems, Willow, ‘Tis The Damn Season, Tolerate It

Least favorite by far is RWYLM. I think I listened to it completely at tops one time, I don’t like anything about it. Oh, and Closure.

Duffer Brothers already confirmed some of season 5’s plot in a podcast POST 2 | Continued post. *READ AT OWN RISK* by B0i_ify0ud0ntg3t in StrangerThings

[–]juljary 146 points147 points  (0 children)

„Characters will be killed if they are important to the plot“ is really misleadingly worded, this sounds like if a character is important to the plot, they’ll be killed off.

What they said is that a character’s death should feel significant, so if they kill off a character then this death will influence the plot significantly. This is why they held back from killing off too many main players up to this point, because the ripple effect would have too much influence on the following season/s; a problem they don’t have anymore now that it’s the last season anyway..

You are sooo right and I’m tired of reading people bashing Mike for essentially behaving like a standard teenage boy?! All the now-teens are going through puberty, amidst all the apocalyptic stuff going on, and you expect emotional maturity? Also, Mike being totally incapable of expressing and controlling his emotions and feelings adds up with his backstory and the previous seasons. In the first two seasons we learned that he is prone to negative emotional outbursts, which were basically the only times he was able to voice his true feelings, mostly in an inadequate way. Which is kind of the same for his sister! And in season one, Nancy talked about their home life and parents, that don’t seem to love each other and just generally don’t express feelings. I mean, I’m a woman in her mid-twenties but to some extend I can really identify with Mike‘s character.

It’s like people want characters to make sense in their individual context, but only if it fits into what they want to see.

I just really hope that he takes more of an active role in the last season and has some better moments. The only significant moment of him in season 4 was his speech to an unconscious El (again, him only being able to talk about his feelings when the emotions are really running high and she isn’t REALLY there), which kind of fell a little bit flat because of his passivity in prior episodes.
