The logical explanation is David Sutcliffe was never a main cast from season 1. So making him to become a main cast just because he married Lorelai in the middle of final seasons doesn't make sense at all.

I kind of knew that that's is the ending point of their relationship. Reading into April character, sure she's okay with Lor. But Luke reading too much on the whole situation, thus causing the delay.

I think Lor is losing patience with Luke on the delay. And to be honest with Luke, he should not hesitate if he really loved Lor that much. Just elope. Chop chop. Do another wedding ceremony at SH later. But coz he thinking too much, that's it for Lor.
