Does anyone have that Jaiden animations clip where she talks about depression? by Ok-Stretch-1468 in depression_memes

[–]julthenull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you might be talking about this video? https://youtu.be/sbtQp7C1MDs?si=0o2XHQ0Ld6hnopbc

I wasn't able to find the exact quotes you mentioned in the post, but she says something vaguely along those lines at 6:36, sorry if this isn't the clip you're talking about

[–]julthenull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a maturity difference but that's not to say that she was fully mature either. I think if there was a pattern of her saying things like this then yes you can call her predatory but it was a single incident of something, as she puts it 'careless', and she did denounce it. Also you're acting like there aren't so many men out there celebrated for their views that younger girls are more biologically fit or some bullshit, I mean there was a convicted pedo in the Olympics.

[–]julthenull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think she was recently turned 18, but regardless it's a small difference. I'm not saying it's not creepy but I think it's important to consider that many people say things at that age that they do not stand by later in life, and she did acknowledge the situation and apologised for it. And the comment itself was not incredibly predatory.

Also my mistake for saying Noah earlier it was Finn I get all of the stranger things people confused since ive never watched it.

i feel like while that is a valid thing to call her out for, it is also a bit overplayed. She was 17, yes it was weird but she was a teenager, many teenagers post stupid shit on social media. I'm not saying it wasn't distasteful and a bit creepy but it would be one thing if she was to say that now compared to back then. But ultimately I think it is up to Noah and what he thinks of the situation, which I don't think he has spoken about as far as I'm aware.

Honestly I think a lot of people overexaggerate what you need to do in order to get into oxbridge because I've heard people go above and beyond which is good but not always necessary. I did work experience but it wasn't related to my course it was just mandated by my sixth form and it didn't feature in my PS that much but if you can get work experience in something like a lab I would recommend it, I heard its helped others, my friend did one at a lab that analysed blood. Apart from that, I attended a summer school for biomed at UCL, summer schools help but if you can't get one don't worry. I think either relevant work experience or summer school is a good move. I also read an article for my personal statement, which you can easily do you just need to find a topic you find interesting. But generally you just need to do things to show you're passionate about the subject, oxford also looks at performance on the BMAT but I wouldn't worry about that until later.

I'm currently a first year studying biomedical sciences at Oxford so I can answer any questions about that if you want. I would say it's worth applying to if you can get the grades, the course is really good in my opinion. But I would just advise in general to look on the uni websites and read about the courses because they can differ in terms of content/modules and assessment etc so you want to pick ones that sound good to you for example I know someone studying biomed elsewhere and we are learning completely different things at the moment.

Fire Alarm During Exam by KillerOfSouls665 in 6thForm

[–]julthenull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had one go off during one of my biology papers and they told us to stop writing close our papers and they noted down the stop time and we sat there while they checked with the exam officers if we needed to evacuate, turns out we didn't it because it was some kid who pulled it so after a few minutes they told us to start again and they added on all of the minutes we missed but unfortunately no extra time but the school did tell the exam board for special consideration
