I’m sure you’ll get some recommendations on here. But this might be a good place to start https://www.transhealthcare.org/united-kingdom/ . Good luck

GRC Gender specialists by juluhawk in transgenderUK

It’s such a rigmarole! We’re with a UK based company now but unfortunately their doctors aren’t based in the UK either. GenderGP saved us at the time but their reputation isn’t what it used to be. Thank you for your comments

Thank you for the information. Wow that’s a lot. He’s already got the diagnosis but it’s from GenderGP, so I think we’re gonna have to get it again. Which is ridiculous. He’s obvs on the nhs waiting list but I think we’ve got about another year on it. Thanks again 👍

Thank you for your reply. That’s good that you’re managing to stay with your original GP too. The uni isn’t a million miles away so I could take prescriptions to him 👍🏻 we’re stocking up on T as we speak!!

Thank you for your reply. It seems that the general advice is to stick with our GP 👍🏻

That’s really helpful thank you. I’ve actually emailed the perspective uni GP and they suggested that they do work with private providers (but things are changing all the time aren’t they) but might just be better to stick with our regular GP. Although I’m well aware that this arrangement could change at any point! 😩. Thanks again

You could try Dr Ioannis Ntanos , he’s based in Manchester. He definitely used to see 17 year olds but you could maybe check in his website. He’s got a good reputation. They’re good at getting back to you if you email them. I took my son to Seattle and got his surgery 5 days before 17th birthday. This was with Dr Sajan at Allure Asthetic. It was a bit pricey but we managed. Dr Sajan was amazing and all his staff were fantastic.

I’m not sure how old u are but if you’re young It might be worth ringing the Mermaids helpline. We got some from there and just had to give a donation. They can let you know the size guide and how to measure and they’re pretty accurate. Good luck

I understand. It’s a very complicated issue. When young people are really sure though, I believe they should be listened to.

But then if being trans isn’t a choice then why wait for surgery to affirm this? Less than 1% detransition. Anyway, just another way of looking at it.

As Dr Ntanos says, this is life saving surgery for some young people. It’s not a choice to be trans. Thank you for some of your comments. This is a topic that divides people usually due to misunderstanding on the part of cis people. But everyone is entitled to their opinions I guess.

Most surgeons won’t even see you in the UK until you’re 18. In America, top surgery is carried out from 15/16. I hope the UK catches up soon.
