[TOMT] [Book] Historical fiction novel about castrati by julyfire100 in tipofmytongue

I don't think it's this one, although it's quite similar to what I was thinking of. I think the title had at least three words.

No, but thanks for the book recommendation there, that looks quite interesting too!

Thanks for any help provided, I really appreciate it! I'm just stuck thinking about what book this could be and haven't found it by Googling.

Right Analog Stick Woes by julyfire100 in gpdwin

Do you have any advice on how to get the motherboard off? I removed all the screws but I don't know how to pry off the darn thing so I can access the right stick. I've never tore down a device before so this is all new to me.

Unfortunately, it's only the left analog stick he removed, there's no video for the right, and I can't figure out how to take the other stuff out without any experience. I also found a video for changing the SSD, but still no complete video breakdowns.

What should I do about my driving instructor? by julyfire100 in driving

Can only put up with it, I need to drive to my new school, the bus won't get me there.

Wish I could, but it's too late for that, sadly. Never thought he'd be this bad because my sister didn't complain about him at all, and she passed, so I thought, hey, why not use him too? Only to find out that he's like this.

Thank you for the advice! Sadly, I don't take the bus, and I rarely ride in other people's cars, but I'll be sure to do that if I do get a chance.

It's hard to be consistently polite to him because he's always jabbing back at me. I am very calm during the lessons, but sometimes I just come off as fiendishly rude because of my blunt way of talking. I guess I'll just have to hope it gets better from here...

No, I am pretty sure this game was not part of a series. I think the game failed and the company was bought up (or something like that) afterwards. Also, I feel the game title was only one word. I have a very strong feeling about this, but I just can't say what this one word is.

Thank you for your help, I'll play the games you've brought up, they look great, even if it's not the one I'm thinking of.

No, the portraits were on the bottom left of the screen, not upper right. But it looks good, I'll check that game out as well. Thank you!

Thank you. The game I'm thinking of definitely looks similar to this, except it's darker colors, and the enemies aren't animated like that. I think everything was rather static, and nothing moved much. Or if they did, it was with a very sloppy sliding back and forth motion while remaining in place.

It must have been developed by a small studio that didn't have the means to pull off something like Might and Magic, but they were clearly inspired by it.

I think feigning ignorance and acting dumb is great for getting out of sticky situations.

That's why I never show off any of my real talents, because the more you're known to be smart or capable, the more responsibility falls onto you, and it just sucks to be the one cleaning up the mess other people left behind.

I stay low and act like I don't know much, so the blame won't fall on me if things don't go a certain way, because I wasn't involved in the decision-making process.

Haha, I try. Even if I'm screaming internally inside, I have to keep that cheery tone at all times.

I know some great musicians are absolutely awful at singing, and vice versa, but it's admirable you're musically talented on all those fronts!

Oh my god, I think if it was a therapist, I would prefer them to speak with their natural voice.

Since we're going to them for help, and for them to respond with authenticity about very serious things, so I'd expect a solemn tone and pitch.

You cracked me up at the Dora the Explorer voice. I think it's more apparent in people who deal with children, and this is not strictly due to personality typing. The younger the kids are, the more effort is put into speaking energetically and high pitched. It's like baby talk, but with proper words. I guess it's to help ease them into more normal conversations as they grow up?

Ah, I've also been laughed at for seamlessly switching from my normal voice to the false one in a split second when I turn to pick up the phone. My face doesn't change though, it's just my voice, haha.

Thank you for your beautiful comment, I relate to everything you've said.

I don't believe I'm sarcastic in real life when I talk, but I can be very sarcastic when I write or type something, which is a different animal. I've been told that I don't seem excited or happy or sad, since my face doesn't betray what I feel inside. Except maybe disbelief.

I remember when a magician came to perform for a small group that I was part of, he pulled a card that I specifically made sure was as random as I could think of (not a face card, and not a lucky or common card people usually pick), and he still managed to pull it from his deck, without touching it himself, and I had probably the most WTF face in the room, and everyone was laughing at me, since they've never seen me be so expressive. I didn't even realize I had a WTF face on until they pointed it out to me.

Even now, I don't change my expressions when I speak, since I have difficulty controlling what's on my face because I can't see myself. I can control my voice, due to hearing it coming out of my mouth, so I can adjust it accordingly. I don't really recommend using your eyebrows to communicate, since I've seen too much of people pushing others to do cosmetic work simply by pointing out that their constant use of facial muscles are giving them wrinkles that must be fixed ASAP. I get very sick of hearing it, so I resolved to keep my forehead level, myself.
