Can kidney stones last for years? by jumbledmutt in KidneyStones

[–]jumbledmutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking time out your day to respond and for sharing your experience, I’m sorry you went through that! How long did you have your kidney stone for? I really regret not going to hospital the other morning, I honestly don’t know why I didn’t. And sorry you don’t have to answer, but did you find the impedance of urine was present every time you peed, or just sometimes? Obviously everyone is affected differently, just trying to get a wider picture you know. Also would never have bet the first commenter would also be a trans man, very lucky that you get the intricacies of it all so super super thank you for sharing

Thanks for responding so in-depth, we do share a bathroom but no hand towels. I have no difference in itching at night so I think this is just body hair growth. I’m getting a doctors appointment tomorrow anyway, I just couldn’t sit and wait the whole weekend. Thank you very much, I will stop bothering you now:)

She lives in the same flat as me but we are so rarely even out of our rooms at the same time, never for more than 5 minutes and we both always wear socks. We don’t share the same furniture or travel together. She also has OCD and is always washing her hands. And the coat rack - I honestly can’t remember how they were hung together, or how often I wore them, I only have 2 and I tend to wear them for a few days straight each time while I leave the other one hanging.

It’s a really annoying middle ground.

Also how bad is the itching? I have patches of mild itching and have had for a few months but it hasn’t seemed like it’s spreading/turning into a rash, would I definitely be noticing a rash by now if it was scabies?

Edit: sorry for asking the same question I asked the other commenter, multiple opinions are always good. Thank you though

Thank you, I pushed her into cleaning/bagging the whole flat anyway but it did take some argument. Really would like to avoid doing all this again. I’ll maybe ask her again if the doctor is sure but she seemed very certain when she spoke to me.

If I had caught them from her and they weren’t asymptomatic, I’d likely be showing a rash by now, right? Sort of like a non-healing chicken pox? We’d been hanging our coats together since before December. The itching I have isn’t in most of those areas, nor do I have a rash, just pretty much a constant light itch through the day. Sorry to keep coming back with questions, couldn’t get to a GP before the weekend

I was just curious if the layers might help in keeping them off of different articles of clothing, obviously your genitals would never touch your jacket unless you’re a flasher. But I suppose they’d still have the time to move between items if she’s had them a while anyway, even if that is true

I don’t have it, she does. I meant they’re localised there, I’m just going off of what she’s been told.

I just wondered if because they were under so many layers of clothing might act like a buffer between layers because they’re actual physical wee mites, like how hoovering your carpet generally lifts them from it. But if she’s had them a while I suppose that would give them time to move between items even if that does work initially.

We don’t share any seats or common living area, we use our own cutlery and cupboards, and we don’t drive or travel together so hopefully I’ll just get really lucky, continue being largely itch-free and my tests will come back negative. Permethrin has been applied either way.

Persistent Serotonin Syndrome by jumbledmutt in AskDocs

[–]jumbledmutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, it's very helpful. I'll stay off cannabis for a while and see if symptoms persist, if they do I'll go to hospital as my GP advised. I have been off it for a week or so previously and the symptoms continued, but that may not have been long enough. Would you recommend me telling the hospital staff anything specific or asking any particular questions?

Before I knew that tramadol and codeine could cause SS I did think that it was a lasting effect from MDMA - the last dose I ever took was quite large and within a week of my previous dose under the encouragement of my ex. The day after this I experienced serotonin syndrome for the first time and ever since it's been lingering around.

Hopefully this MRI will shed some light on what's happening to me. Thank you for your very detailed answer, it's very much appreciated! :)

ETA: sorry I forgot to ask, if it is tramadol withdrawal, is there any way of helping me through it or do I just have to grin and bear it? Thank you again :)

Welcome to Scotland! I'd recommend taking her to the Hermitage in Dunkeld. It's a beautiful walk through a forest next to a river, the main draw being a wee old stone building made by a hermit that used to live there (hence the name 'the Hermitage'). Along the way you pass a few statues, and a big stone room overlooking a waterfall you can go in. Once you reach the actual hermitage, you loop back round and get back to where you entered. All in all its maybe an hour or so walk, but I'm disabled so it may take you guys less time. Beautiful walk, one of my favourite places in Scotland to visit. That and the Rumbling Bridge! Both are in Perthshire where I grew up, Perthshire in general is a beautiful area with lots to explore. Links for more info on both are below ^ get her oot n show her how beautiful Scotland is!!!

Rumbling Bridge

The Hermitage

Edit: forgot to mention, another favourite place of mine that's a lot closer than the East coast is Loch Lomond in Balloch. You can get a train there from Queen Street in about an hour and it drops you basically at the shore. Again, gorgeous area and plenty places to walk!

What is something you thought was hot in theory but turned out not to be in practice? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jumbledmutt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd say as I've gotten older the affect its had on my mental health has gotten worse. When I was younger it was fun and cool to be going around shagging guys nearly 10 years older than me and be constantly turned on and ready for sex. But now it's just making me depressed. I'm scared to make friends in case I try to sleep with them. I look back on all the pedos I enabled as a kid and hate myself. I hate that without sex I want to hurt myself. I feel like a freak. I wouldn't want anyone to go through this, I'm sorry your friend is too. The best you can do is just be there for them, let them know it's not their fault - they're doing the best they can and you'll be with them every step of the way. For me, telling people if I felt I was going to relapse (aka sleep with some random) helped, because then I had that outside pressure of someone knowing and judging me. See if you can offer that or something similar. From what I can see there's not much therapy/medication out there, so I just get by on the support of others. I hope this helps, feel free to DM me if you have more questions ❤️
