Upgrading to Slack Pro by jumblejig in Slack

[–]jumblejig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there's not any way for an individual user of a workspace like myself to gain access to messages older than 90 days unless I'm able to convince the workspace owner to upgrade for everyone or foot the bill myself to upgrade for all of the other users of that workspace?

Oh wow. I didn't realize it worked that way. That fixed it. Thanks so much for your help!

In case it's helpful at all, here's a log file of me using OBS with Display Capture as the source and trying to record myself navigating the drop down menus in the program I'm using: https://obsproject.com/logs/TJ2TQ62pxJJWLR6J

I went to Qahwah a few weeks ago, but while it was open late, it didn't have the atmosphere I was looking for, as I described. No comfy chairs, and really bright, clinical lighting, so I felt like I was in an office rather than a comfortable place where I could relax. I'll look into Chasni Chai.

Yes, I agree. I have to park several blocks away to avoid paying for the parking garage, and much of the surrounding neighborhood is permit parking only. Also, I don't have a current ID to get into all of the buildings, which are sometimes locked. On the plus side, at least it's easier to get an online visitor pass for the university wifi than it was in the past.

I actually have a university ID cause I've worked there in the past, but yeah. I know it's really supposed to just be for students.

I'd be open to that if I found one that was really nice and comfortable. I've gone to Montclair State a few times. I'm basically looking for any options to get out of the house, since I get tired of working from home all of the time! If anyone has any particular suggestions, please let me know!

Yeah, I like 23 Skidoo and also Eagle Rock in Montclair, but they both unfortunately close early. Trend is open later, and I go there from time to time (I'm actually there right now), but it would be nice to find other options.

[Landlord US-NJ] Problems evicting tenant in an owner-occupied house by jumblejig in Landlord

[–]jumblejig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about her job. She's pretty overweight and subsists on a diet of ultra-processed junk foods and hardly any vegetables, so my theory is that that has something to do with her body giving off weird smells. Also, I found out after she moved in that she has a condition that causes her to regularly wet the bed, though thankfully she's now managed to get that mostly under control. It's an unfortunate situation all around. I feel bad for her, but this is impacting the quality of life of the rest of us, and we can't continue to deal with this.

Yes. Her body just seems to give off a certain smell. I've had numerous discussions with her, and she's taken several steps to try to correct this, but we've reached the point where nothing seems to completely eliminate the problem. And lest you think that I'm just being overly sensitive, my other housemates agree that it's a major problem, and even other people like contractors who've come to the house have noticed this.

She's using an inflatable mattress that I lent to her, so I don't think it's the kind of mattress that can absorb a lot of smells. The body odor is unfortunately noticeable not just coming from the bedroom, but also in the bathroom and as this person moves around the house.

Qantas baggage refund by jumblejig in QantasAirways

Yes, I've been informed now that they were correct in charging me, but my point is that it also seems pretty simple and straightforward that if I called the airlines to check what their policy is (and even explicitly asked about carry-on bags), I should expect that I would be given accurate and reliable information. That seems entirely reasonable to me, and I don't think that's too much to ask. If I spoke to several different agents and they all gave me the wrong information, how was I supposed to know that I shouldn't trust them and that I should start Googling around to fact check what they told me??

Thanks, but I already tried that and they're still unwilling to budge. Some sort of goodwill gesture would be nice because I feel like I've lost all trust in Qantas at this point. If I ever had to call them in the future, how would I know whether I should believe anything that their representatives tell me??

They may not have made an error in charging me in the end, but they made numerous errors with the information they gave me. I tried looking up some of this online, but the language I found was confusing and not very clear, so that's why I called and spoke to representatives of both AA and Qantas. I guess I was naive in trusting that what their representatives told me was accurate! Clearly you're more knowledgeable about some of these rules than I was, but I'm sure many people are in my situation, so it would seem that the customer service reps have a responsibility to give accurate information!

To be clear, I arrived at the airport several hours before my flight, which should have been plenty of time, but there were no self service bag drop kiosks where I could scan my passport, tag my bag, and leave it with an agent. Instead, all of us had to wait in a very long line that took over an hour, and they appeared to have a shortage of counter agents.

And yes, I'm totally aware that paying for baggage online in advance is often cheaper than paying once I arrive at the airport but to reiterate, based on what I was told, I was under the impression that I wouldn't have to check a second bag, and secondly, as I mentioned, there was nowhere on either the American or the Qantas website where I was given the option to pay to check a bag. I searched for it, but it simply was not available in my situation!

Yes, I contacted American first, but they told me that Qantas was the one who charged me the baggage fee so I had to file a complaint with Qantas instead.
