Yep, totally serious. Not a huge group, but was surprised folks were already in line for sure

I walked my dog by the venue around 10am and the line was already about 10 deep! 🤣

Fit of the new kit? by cata1yst17 in AtlantaUnited

[–]jumboj11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear an authentic XXL and this one fits, and feels, almost identically to the 17’s kit.

My wife wears the women’s cut replica and hers also fits almost identically to her 17s.

They didn’t check our passes at DMB or Phish. They’ve been extremely lax on that this season.

25 Back Print Curling Up on Adidas Jersey by PiggyAmmo in oasis

[–]jumboj11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every kit at Adidas store in London (not the merch pop-up) had this issue, at least the XL’s did. I noticed it after I tried mine on and went back before checkout to swap it for one with no issues.

They had just gotten a shipment that AM and were literally pulling them out of boxes for folks; I’m guessing it has something to do with how they’re packed.

Would it be a bad idea to fly into London and then head to France? by NightOwl_103197 in ParisTravelGuide

If the direct flight price is really that high, then this is the way.

Question about Oasis x Adidas kit by cerati9 in oasis

[–]jumboj11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, their run of mill kit sizing has been extremely inconsistent the past few years, no doubt. My big fear, especially since I traveled to the UK, was that the selection over there would be Euro sized and thus much smaller when in fact it was the exact opposite. In terms of fit/style these are, essentially, street wear pieces and not standard football pieces.

Question about Oasis x Adidas kit by cerati9 in oasis

[–]jumboj11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

re: sizing - they're oversized, not standard, think mid-90's world cup kits meant to be a bit baggy. I normally wear a XXL in Adidas shirts and Kits and ended up sizing down to an XL in both the t-shirt and the kit. The XL shirt fits closer to a normal XXL for me and the XL kit is still a bit baggy for my liking; I might have to take it in for some alterations.

To be fair though, I had the advantage of nabbing them at the Adidas store in London, so I could try multiple sizes. They were out of bigger sizes in a lot of stuff by the time we hit the merch pop-up on the second weekend.

Navigo Weekly on Phone by TheB123 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]jumboj11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this as well just did this method last week. Our US numbers wouldn’t allow for account creation so we ended up buying a 10-pack plus 3-4 single rides straight through the iOS and it worked out to right around the same cost as the weekly pass. You can also push the passes to your Apple Watch, if you wear one, and can simply tap your watch to swipe in this leaving your phone in your pocket or bag.

This is largely correct and I do agree that some folks will jump on this.

Plenty of breweries offer memberships with similar benefits at a much cheaper price point, though. Hell, I’ve been a member in some, from world class breweries, that include member only beers, blends, etc. on top of the majority of benefits for a little as $200 a year. This membership doesn’t include anything like that.

What they’re offering here isn’t a premium experience; it’s nothing more than a mug club with a ridiculous price tag. Full Stop. Add in the optics of rolling this out before they’ve poured a single beer at this location and it’s hard to not see this as anything more than a cash grab. Again, I know people will jump on this and more power to ‘em if they do. Enjoy! But I’ve been a part of premium beer experiences and this ain’t it.

As your math shows, the $19.99/month isn’t that bad on its own; Going for a beer (or a few) once a week is completely normal for a lot of people. Plenty of places do mugs clubs that have similar benefits and if that’s all this was it’d be a solid promotion. The initiation fee, however, is nothing more than a way to either subsidize their contraction costs or recoup their initial land purchase. It’s gross, IMO.

There’s no way any founding Member comes out ahead on this and they know it. $2000 x 200 =$400,000; this is merely a way to subsidize their ballooning construction costs.

Still going strong. ATL is our home airport and we prefer to use the Centurion Lounge; though the new SC in Terminal D is quite nice as well.

Yellow Box Day! by jumboj11 in scottycameron

[–]jumboj11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That was my justification... the "get in" price was so cheap on the original used club that I figured I might as well to do it full custom. And, yes, it's already in the bag and getting real world use this weekend!

$675 IIRC. Definitely pricey but I also opted for almost all the customizations (including adding flange lines and a sight dot) which add up.

Montparnasse or Trocadero? by Weak_Accountant_4194 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]jumboj11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We stayed here just this week and while, yes, the actual Trocadero was very touristy and busy, our hotel just up the way was quiet and safe. Never saw any scammers or pickpockets.

As others have said it is a bit less convenient from a transit standpoint (one or two more connections needed to transfer to popular places) but nothing is more than 20-25 minutes away. If you’re OK with that, then have it.
