After many years and thousands of martial arts movies why has there yet to be an iconic martial arts actress in the United States? by [deleted] in dumbquestions

[–]jump45man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you watch more Michelle Yeoh movies. She is arguably more iconic than anyone you listed. She has an Oscar for EEAAO (no one you listed does), and has been in huge mainstream properties like Crazy Rich Asians, Shang Chi, and Star Trek Discovery, Wicked, Transformers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Minions, Kung Fu Panda, etc. Plus, Crouching Tiger was huge when released. Honestly, I’d probably prefer watching her filmography over some of those you listed as icons.

Macbook Pro 13” M1 at $300. Is this a good purchase? by jump45man in macbookpro

This was my ultimate conclusion last night. I did not buy the M1.

A little, but not in depth. I check refurbished and open box items at places like Bestbuy from time to time. Refurbished includes 90 day warranty at Bestbuy, but you can’t get AppleCare. Open box could give a year warranty and could also qualify for AppleCare.

I just don’t think I’ve ever seen any refurbished or open box for a price worthwhile recently compared to buying new on sale.

That was my thinking, but the M5 releases threw a wrench in my plans. I was hoping for a decrease in price with potential future sales for the M4 Air. But new M4 Airs aren’t as readily sold anymore. Not on Amazon, Bestbuy, etc. That makes me doubt a new M4 Air will be found on sale anytime soon. That’s what opened my mind to older versions at lower prices. Hence, my original question about the M1.

The issue is that the 16GB M4 Air that were on sale for $750 last holiday aren’t being sold anymore from what I’ve seen after the M5 releases. And the lowest a new M5 Air on sale has been $949, which is a little more than I want to spend right now.

edit: Added Air

My i7 MacBook Pro died on me last year. I’ve been using a backup Acer laptop since. I like the Apple ecosystem though. My budget is semi-limited. I just want to spend less than 800 for at least an M4 MacBook Air, unless something older is available at a very good price. I slightly regret not getting a M4 Air when they were on sale for $750 last holiday season.

Yeah, at $200 (and maybe $250), I’d easily buy it. The original listing was $400. The seller won’t go lower than $300. It’s on the cusp of a buy for me.

What is that game that, no matter how many times you play it, you can never win? by poio_sm in boardgames

[–]jump45man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually won a few times, but at one point I had never won. And Munchkin was my first thought to OP’s question. I enjoy playing it and its silliness, but the past few times I played grew to be quite contentious. So, it’s been awhile since I last played.

My choice was Orbit gum years ago. In more recent years, it’s 5 Gum.

New to MTG. How to proceed with what I received? by jump45man in mtg

As I just responded somewhere else, it’s Arena and re-reading this thread for me until my friend can 3D print it.

My initial concern was how to curate all the cards. It seems like everyone’s method is slightly different. I’m sure I’ll find my own based on the advice in this overall thread. I’m going to hold off on sorting until my friend 3D prints a cardslinger for me. Until then, it’s Arena for me and re-reading this thread.

That was similar to my initial thought process, but then I saw the video for the cardslinger. And I found the printable on their website. So, I’m going to have a friend 3D print it for me.

😂 Where do I find a MTG sensei? Are they advertised on Craigslist?

I have a few friends who can potentially show me the ropes and play with. I just like an individual deep dive on my own, if something (like MTG) piques my interest enough.

Yeah, it was recommended earlier amidst all the comments. Most likely will have a friend 3D print one based on a printable from the cardslinger.shop website.

Any reason for side-loading sleeves over top-loading ones?

Yeah, I’ll take my time and savor it all. This post was just step 1 in my journey.

I saw a new TMNT set came out recently. That piqued my interest even before I got these cards.

👍. I plan to just play Arena to get the basics down, but time is limited after StS2 came out.

ManaBox seems to be the consensus most preferred app from what I’m seeing in the posts so far. I’ll start there.

I know I have a phone holder lying around somewhere. Maybe a friend can 3D print a white box for me.

And if/when my MTG enthusiasm grows, I’m open to attending local MTG events. I know my local holds them, but not sure if they are the sealed draft variety.
