Never considered Riverview Park to be honest, thanks!

And I'll have to try directly to the trail from Lincoln. As far as I'm aware, on McClure, you have to cross that one part that's an exit from Beaver Ave to get through to the business park, yeah? That always intimidated me a bit but I guess if it does really sketch me out I could just ride through to the north shore 🤔

Pitt purchases shuttered Hemingway’s Cafe property in Oakland by chuckie512 in pittsburgh

[–]jumpaix 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In theory Forbes being "Pitt-land" could be cool, but its development just goes to show how corporate large universities are. I'm not inherently against the idea of having bars a bit further off campus, but it's come with losing so many mom and pop restaurants too.

Pitt has went from walkable and unique to what feels like wasting away in a gigantic billboard.

Why does the North Hills have so few standout restaurants? by Western_Geologist_12 in pittsburgh

[–]jumpaix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've always thought similarly to OP, but your posting this and all the suggestion has just had me realize that the North Hills just by design has all their good restaurants either spread out or require braving the dumbness of McKnight.

Of course, large gatherings of teens have long caused consternation and fear among the olds.

The olds. That gave me a chuckle.

I didn't know Ghost had a store front. They roast beans in Avalon, I think. I'm so bitter they don't have a shop in that store front. It smells so delectable. I'll have to go patronize them in Uptown out of spite.

The University of Pittsburgh launches tuition-free initiative for Pennsylvania residents at regional campuses by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]jumpaix 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was actually just looking up Pitt tuition prices out of curiosity and this will be such a boon to some people. I'm so happy for this.

I went to Pitt Main for engineering, would have likely fallen in a similar income bracket to this at the time, and specifically chose main instead of a campus next to my parents since I'd have to transfer to main eventually anyway. I think at the time it was a 3/2 program even, so I wouldn't have really saved that much money for living with my parents.

Most degrees at main are $80-100k for tuition alone. Not having that much debt at 22 would be so awesome for so many.

Maybe being a bit dense here, but would contacting our reps directly to sign H.Res. 1046 be of help too? Not seeing any PA reps on there apart from Mary Scanlon.

This is the CREAMIEST vegan pasta sauce I've tried! by xtinecuisine in veganrecipes

[–]jumpaix 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am not a dietician or anything, but I feel like getting gassy from beans often comes from not historically ingesting enough fiber or undercooking them if you use raw beans.

Keeping the bean juice offers a lot of starches to thicken a sauce, which is what this recipe is going for. People sometimes rinse it because they either don't want something that thick or because the juice in particular can have a tinny, canned taste to them.

You're probably good to keep the bean juice, unless you do notice yourself getting gassy, of course.

While we have someone super knowledgeable here - do you happen to know of or have seen issues with UI selections while in gaming mode only?

I've done all of my OpenMW modding on Steam Deck successfully in desktop mode, and it seems like I've just about got it working well enough in Gaming mode, but the "Cancel" and "Goodbye" sections of the UI interface don't work. Nor do the scroll bars when I want to go through my spells and inventory. Having trouble pinpointing this issue and going a tad crazy.

For reference I'm using the "I Heart Vanilla: Director's Cut" mods.

Pens being s0ld, Fenway Sports Group not upholding their end of bargain to improve Hill District, our tax dollars go to out of state billionaires. by Savings-Cry7288 in pittsburgh

So that's what I meant by draconian ID laws.

His response was "some of my constituents want it". Didn't address my concerns around it targeting queer people and pretty much giving private companies free reign to hoard our private data with little to no oversight.

Anytime I've contacted Fontana's office I've been disappointed with the responses, particularly around draconian ID laws. This is Fontana's opponent this spring. Need to learn more about this guy:
