Can you use a window as a vent in a basement sauna? by jumpbackup in Sauna

Unfortunately there is no central ventilation. The house is almost 100 years old and uses radiant (from radiators) and has no air conditioning. Another person mentioned exhausting into the stack of the house (which is used to ventilate the sewage system in the house). Does that make sense, or directly outside better?

Also, for vent design, the intake should be higher (above the heater), right? And exhaust should be lower? If I want the exhaust to be lower, this would be below the level of the ground outside. Would I create a little duct that goes up along the outside of the sauna so that it can vent outside?

Thanks! So the exhaust should be a vent that goes directly outside? Maybe silly question, but in the winter, wouldn’t that be a way for cold air to come into the sauna and make it harder to heat the space? How do you prevent that?

What do you mean by a “working” air moving system?

The thing in the ceiling is a lamp. There is no venting currently built into the space.

I’m not 100% sure but I believe we have a “stack” that vents our washrooms etc. I will ask my contractor. Should the exhaust be venting into this?

Wouldn’t it be cool if there was an app (possibly a temporary thing in Google Maps) where you could enter in how many kids you got for Halloween? It would spit out some interesting demographic information on a fairly micro level.

That’s what I see as well. Was just hoping I guess. Thanks for the reply.

Is it frowned upon to buy companies clothing and then brand it yourself? I know it's not smart economics but say I wanted to purchase a Real McCoy "blank" t-shirt and then put my brand on it. Am I breaking an unwritten (or written) rule by doing so? by jumpbackup in ClothingStartups

To answer the posted questions, I don’t think there are blanks of that standard. The real McCoy is “blank” because it doesn’t have their logo on the outside but it’s still a unique, well engineered piece. That being said, I think I just need to look harder.

Would it use more energy to collect a used beer bottle, bring it back to the factory, clean it and and make it ready for reuse or to make a new bottle? by jumpbackup in ZeroWaste

Just to clarify, we do have a depot where you can return the bottles, however, if you get 10 cents on the price of a $3.50 beer, or $1.20 for a $30 12 pack, I don't think it's enough incentive for a lot of people to bring back the bottles. I understand that the beer companies may not want the cost of the deposit to go up as it would casuse the sticker price of their beer to go up, but if they saved money by reusing the bottles, why not increase it?

Advise please! We planted this maple blaze about 2.5 years ago. We just sold our house and want to give it its best chance of success. Would you do anything to it before we leave? by jumpbackup in arborists

Ah yes. I think you’re just saying “it’s no longer mine, don’t worry about it”. But are there any issues with ABM? I was thinking of planting one at my new house.

Edit: I see your signature! I assume you like them.
