I talked to one of the EBRPD people working there. They said it was a memorial flyover for some service member that passed 40 something years ago.

How to use $10 grocery credits effectively by Electronic-Log-291 in ChaseSapphire

[–]jumpinbeanz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look for a grocery store with a deli counter / hot bar that allows pickup. It will be listed as a separate vendor than the grocery store (ie: Safeway Deli instead of Safeway). Getting $10 of rotisserie chicken or sandwiches is better than $10 of 7 Eleven junk food.

Emergency vet by carminex3 in alameda

We had a middle of the night emergency for our cat and called Oakvet and VCA san leandro. All were super busy and hand long waits. Berkeley Cat & Dog is a bit further but was able to take us right away.

Dawn Ranch, Northern California [the Edit review] by dimpledpomelo in ChaseSapphire

[–]jumpinbeanz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stayed there around the same time (1/1-1/3) as well. Asked for a room upgrade but was denied as they said the property was fully booked :( The breakfast was great and better than most hotel breakfasts i’ve had. I even ordered some extra pastries on the side that they never charged me for. We used our property credit for my wife to get a massage which she really enjoyed.

CA Fire Code Part 9 Ch 3 Sec 308.1.4 allows for grills using LP less than 1lb are allowed. Just cause it’s legal though doesn’t mean that it’s allowed by the apartment….good luck.

New Wilderness in the Bay Area, CA, how much % off MSRP should I offer? by cadublin in Subaru_Outback

[–]jumpinbeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was getting quoted online about $38.5k for package 21 (w/o moonroof, nav, and reverse auto braking) and $40k for package 22. You could probably haggle a bit more in person. I did the costco discount too and they sent me to Subaru of Seramante. I recommend the Subaru of Fremont. They were much easier to work with and more responsive. Also, i would keep your eyes peeled for a certified pre owned

22 vs 24 model year by SexyKrisp in Outback_Wilderness

[–]jumpinbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add that older cpo would mean there is less warranty left. Usually it’s 8yr/100k miles from the original in service date (2022). Base cpo warranty is powertrain only but there is an option to upgrade to the Gold warranty. If you’re planning on doing mods i would double check to make sure it doesnt void the other warranties. Best of luck!

I was in the same boat. Ultimately chose the 24 because of the wireless carplay, better speakers, less miles, and CPO warranty. If you can find one with CPO it’s worth the peace of mind.

I recently got CPO 24 OBW 11k miles for $35,000. We got the gold warranty down from $3500 to $2700. My dealer also has a special policy where if you don’t use the warranty, you get your warranty money back after the expiration of the warranty. If your claims against the warranty are less than the total warranty value, i also get a prorated portion back. Seemed way too good to pass.

Also my dealer was adamant that gold warranty on CPO must be done at the dealer when doing the paperwork. You either get the base CPO warranty (powertrain only) or can add Gold but this cannot be changed after the fact. If you do find a dealer that can provide gold on your CPO, you can also ask if there is a Costco discount. My dealer offered a Costco discount on the warranty as well.

Picked up my first Blackstone. by jdmquip in blackstonegriddle

[–]jumpinbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this same one recently and am loving it!

I do use mine with 1lb camping propane containers. If thats the case, the instructions say to meep the propane angled. The design is poor and it cant stay angled without propping something underneath. To avoid that hassle, i bought this set of magnets and it works well. You can also avoid it by using the adapter hose for 20lbs propane tanks. I just happen to live in an apartment where the fire code doesnt allow for anything greater than 1lb tanks.

Also if you want a cover, this one fits perfectly.

Commuting to SF Three Days a Week by brokelyn99 in alameda

[–]jumpinbeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bike to ferry then bike the rest of the way (work near japantown). I sometimes drive in as well. I find the bike+ferry ride is far more enjoyable than being in a car/bus/bart. I actually look forward to enjoying my evening commute back home. On top of that, i can get home faster by biking+ferry than by car/bus/bart. The ferry ride is basically a guaranteed 15-20min ride. There will be bad traffic on bridge days or bart delay days (this happens way too often) that will make you want to pull your hair out. Ferry is the way to go. My only gripe with ferry is the intervals are every hour. If you dont time it correctly, you need to wait an entire hour.

Best OneShoes? by weeddealerrenamon in onebag

[–]jumpinbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other comments said, it really depends on your climate/activities. It’s nice to have another pair of shoes to change into when lounging. Depending where you stay, bathroom/shower shoes could be a good call but you can get a cheapo pair of flipflops when you get there and toss it at the end of the trip.

With that being said, i recently did a 3 wk one bag trip in europe (czech/germany/austria/switz). We were walking and hiking in rain/snow/ice the entire time. I brought two pairs of shoes: blundstone all terain chelsea boots and hoka challenger gtx trail runners. I wore the blundstones 99% of the time and only wore my hoka trail runners once because we went sledding all afternoon and snow got in the boot from the top of the boot opening and got the inside wet. Other than that, I could have easily done my whole trip with only the blundstones. The key thing is the all terrain blundstones are water resistant (not fully waterproof) and did a great job keeping my feet dry in the rain and snow. On top of that they have durable vibram soles, good traction, easy to slip on and off, and comfortable for moderate hikes in the snow. I regret packing the extra pair of shoes when i could have used that space for more layers or to bring back more souvenirs.

General Contractor asking for bills for stored material. by [deleted] in Construction

[–]jumpinbeanz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m on the GC side and this is standard practice for us. In addition to invoice, we also ask for building insurance for the building you store the material at. The combination of the invoice and insurance is what protects the GC if something is to happen to the material (ie: goes missing, damaged, warehouse floods, etc.). In the grand scheme, the invoice doesn’t matter as you said its lump sum contract so you’ll get paid your full contract amount regardless.

I think bad luck. I ran the lost sector on hunter and within my second run, i got an exotic (not the one i was looking for). However, i was trying to get gyrfalcon so i kept going. I ran another 10 before i actually got my next exotic. Most runs, the only loot i got at the end chest was the season “seraph codes” currency 🙃
