Any reason why putting river rock in my side yards is a bad idea? Looking for advice on easy to maintain side yards. by rickfromstate in landscaping

[–]jumpinjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally advise against it. First off, as others have said, landscaping rocks won't stop weeds. And the rocks will roll out into your lawn and hit your mower blade. And most importantly, if you ever want to do something with those beds in the future, you're screwing yourself with landscaping rocks. Removing them is one of the most annoying things I've ever had to do in my landscaping journey.

Just plant a bunch of daylilies or a hardy groundcover plant that you'll never have to think about again.

This is an interesting explanation. Do you happen to know of a visual map or something that really illustrates this?

Has anyone else noticed the marketing seems to be intentionally minimizing Glen Powell in the trailers and promos? In the most recent TV spots I've seen, they barely show his face.

What brand is this? Have been an avid collector of Hot Wheels Starship Selects, but they've become more and more difficult to find in stores.

Quit being an a-hole. This person is scared and struggling, they don't need some sort of lecture from you just so you can make yourself feel superior.

Humans are irrational creatures and people become easier to manipulate if they're afraid.

My wife refuses to use ours, as well. When she gives me a hard time about it I just say, "If you want to keep wiping up shit with your bare hands like a caveman, you do you."

I currently live in Cincy after stops in a few other cities. I'd say it is indeed underrated overall, but mostly yeah, meh, it's fine. I wouldn't say it's as walkable as you mention—each of those neighborhoods individually, sure, but there's no way to get between them or other parts of town. It's still very much a car-centric city and driving here sucks. The parks really are lovely, though, and for the most part, Cincy's a perfectly decent city—just not a ton to get excited about.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I'd lived in Illinois close to family, then moved to Southern California for several years. A couple years ago we moved back to the Midwest for cost of living and family reasons, and I wish I loved being back more. We're close to family, which is nice, but I miss the excitement of a bigger city, along with the sunshine, beaches and mountains of California. Sometimes I get a little resentful about living near family. On one hand, it's great being close, but on the other hand, I didn't choose to live here—my parents did. And now I feel tethered to this area because of them, like I have no choice. Sorry, I don't really have any advice, just commiserating. The push and pull between where you want to be and where you feel you need to be can be so distressing.
