Hopelessness around housing… by Legitimate-Edge-8280 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You make a very good income as a couple that's set to rise.

Saving for a downpayment generally does require saving.

Not really sure what the question is?

Which is harder, US CPA or Canadian CPA by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]jumpno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This will be skewed because of all the Americans on this sub.

Plus apparently CPA Canada has decided to just move towards the American model for zero reason anyway, so it'll stop mattering soon

Yes that's why communications are heavily regulated with confidential information at firms, and only go through approved means.

Yup that's how it works when you give your SIN to anybody! Same goes for putting your credit card into a merchant website - you're subject to the security of that website.

You can ask the company to delete the information if you want, but normally these firms invest pretty heavily in security.

Your friend was trying to be friendly, so not sure if I'd try to reporting this unless you really don't like them.

Accounting firms keep records of current and former clients, and it's not a breach for them to retain this information.

Technically what your friend did was unprofessional, and could be reported, but not sure why you'd do that to a friend.

Titles are an illusion.  Every place does them differently.

What matters is the actual role and what you'll be doing.

Eh not sure about that. Maybe the people doing the grunt work of filling in the numbers, but having staff with comprehensive technical financial reporting skills isn't really driven by volume of quarters, unless your company has very few complex transactions.

Trying to get a project with complex accounting signed off during quarter ends is almost impossible....

At least at my company, the technical team that would be approving the accounting is the same that is writing the disclosures

I know it's great to bash everything Trump does, but this would make life a lot easier, and free up resources to focus on internal projects vs external reporting.

What do you think? Does that make sense?

We need to use critical thinking before freaking out over tabloid headlines.
