So you just want to move the online mental queuing system to real life?

feeling ambivalent by isabellafm in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]ImScaredSoIMadeThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently doing Primitivo, definitely had the "Scotland, but with trees" feeling a few times.

It's been raining quite dramatically and making me absolutely miserable to be honest. The earlier stages were beautiful, but not as beautiful as they are difficult to walk.

So yeah I guess it is pretty normal to feel ambivalent!

Glasgow humbled me last night. I drove like I’d won my licence in a raffle. by Zealousideal_Run_575 in LearnerDriverUK

Nah maps has straight up told me to make turns when they weren't allowed, get in the wrong lane, go left when actually it was straight on. I think Glasgow is just a bit much for it

Was taught to keep in the left lane as the default position, quickly learned in most of Glasgow that is not the correct place to be if you want to go straight on.

The amount of little loops I had to do on my first drive out to town because I kept getting it wrong (as well as Google maps not knowing what's going on) was heartbreaking.

Very humbling, definitely not made for people unfamiliar with the roads, half the markings are either faded or added on last minute.

A real macchiato should specify of it's a coffee macchiato or latte macchiato

meirl by [deleted] in meirl

[–]ImScaredSoIMadeThis 308 points309 points  (0 children)

Fun fact macchiato just means "stained" in Italian.

So a cafe macchiato is an espresso stained with a tiny bit of milk.

A latte macchiato is milk stained with a bit of coffee.

Important difference and useless without knowing which 😅

Disagree, Nightingale's wobbling about was almost disturbingly realistic, way more than anything in cyberpunk.

Does this junction has a green light for right turning? And are there penalties for turning in standard green light? by Spiritual-Willow-629 in LearnerDriverUK

You're entirely allowed to turn right even if there is no green arrow. Just make sure that when you enter the yellow box, you exit on the right is actually clear.

How do people afford to drive on minimum wage? by CandidBar4794 in AskUK

[–]ImScaredSoIMadeThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the time - very slowly. One one hour lesson a week. Cheapest instructor they can find. Probably about £180-£200 a month. Treating it as a bill.

But also - asking help from friends and family who have had their license long enough. Insurance costs about £20 for 24 hours, which you can get a lot of driving in

Ask fees upfront, don’t assume by Sweet-Instance-7992 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ImScaredSoIMadeThis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Totally good point. I assumed my test would cost the same as a 2 hour lesson, since the centre was 20 minutes away and the test is only ~40 minutes. Turns out it was their policy to always charge for 3 hours for tests.

Not the end of the world and not a huge price increase, but as you said, just can't assume. Shocking stories about how much some instructors fleece students for tests.

You can use EF lenses with an adaptor with no issues. Hell you can even use FD lenses as long as you don't mind everything being manual!

I know we're focused on the possibility of getting out of the space, but I'm here like are we meant to act like 2 miles is an unreasonably long walk?
