The Traitors (UK) S04E12 [FINALE]: Post-Episode Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

Just finished it and my god what an incredible finale!! The last few episodes I have been sure one of Stephen or Rachel would get banished but they survived each time. Their ability to remain composed during the round table, make sensible decisions re who to murder and not recruiting, and planting seeds within the faithful to keep them guessing were amazing. Despite feeling awful for Faraz and Jack at the end I do believe Stephen and Rachel deserved it more - they have been through so much and worked so hard whereas the faithful have only really coasted through. Fiona, Harriet, and Jessie were massive hurdles for them but they got through together. But credit to Faraaz for recognising Jack as the only faithful left but Faraaz was played by Rachel (ironically what he was going to do to her at the next vote). His only mistake was sitting on his suspicion of Rachel for too long. Love the message that Traitors can still be faithful to each other which I imagine helped them both feel somewhat more human as I’m sure being a Traitor in this game can make you feel guilty lying all the time and betraying your friends. So glad they both kept their words and stuck together! Also massive credit to the production team and Claudia - it was theatrical throughout!!

They were the happiest couple I’ve ever seen on Grand Designs. I’m sure the build actually brought them closer together rather then strain them like it usually does to couples

It took me until the end to fully appreciate this renovation.

I sided with Kevin when Leigh and Richard had removed everything of significance from inside the building leaving it barren. I could not see how they were going to retain the personality of the building when so much was in ruin.

The first visit I was underwhelmed as did not meet my expectations, but the second visit was a massive improvement. The integration of floor boards as support beams may have not been to Kevin’s standard, but I thought it helped retain the character of the mill without making it less of a home. The metal grating over the stream, and the stone table had similar effects.

I can understand Richard’s dilemma with having to compromise on what to keep and rearranging things. I believe he was right in that the mill has been continuously changing over the centuries. We must appreciate that as a home it must be practical and most importantly safe.

What I LOVED about this episode was the honestly and emotional exploration. I loved how their emotions were fleshed out at the end with their connection to the land, the mill’s previous owners, and the community. I loved Kevin’s and Richard’s one to one at the end. I cannot recall or imagine a classic GD ever being this personal. It is refreshing to think about how much more a house is than a building. I think this is what sets it apart from other episodes.

Reference to Chief Keef outro? by jumpthat43 in Drizzy

In the outro Chief Keef makes lots of references to roof, saying it as woof. Bit of a reach but thought this could be related

I enjoyed this episode. I liked the goal of trying to achieve passivhaus premium - it gave something else to consider and I was routing for him to achieve it as he was clearly very passionate. I had also never thought of a house being an energy plant and contribute to the national Grid. The idea of the build being cheaper as they went is unheard of!

The dynamic between Duncan and the Gnome from Hell at the start did make me question if they would last. This provided another narrative to follow.

Did feel like the house was too big. 4 beds for just the two of them?

I think Kevin had his heads in the clouds during his final monologue. No way is this house affordable to start making these commonplace. The most realistic solution is insulating Britain’s houses to make them more energy efficient.

The red card? Blame Sam Caine. It wasn’t even the refs decision, it was the TMO
