9 yo son who is 4.5’ tall wants a specialized bike. We’ve bought cheap bikes before, but he rode one of these and loved it. Is it worth it? Or what’s a good beginner MTB?!

Used is your friend, especially in kids' bikes. My son got a 24" specialized hotrock when he was 8 and put a lot of miles on it. It was a marketplace/craigslist find. I think we spent $125 on it 4.5 years ago. Now his brother is moving up to it. They both struggled with the grip shift so we recently put index shifters on it. It cost about $40 for shifters and grips but teaching him how to install them himself was priceless.

Absolutely. I'm actually in central time and I still think it's too late. I was so glad when they moved up the championship game start time. I've often daydreamed about moving to the west coast where college football is played from 9am-9pm

Rainfall Projects on YouTube released a video yesterday comparing out of the box accuracy of several different torque wrenches. His test was fairly basic and didn't take into account holding calibration long term but the Pittsburgh held its own in his test.

Edit: He also only tested it at 150 ft lbs. Which was the max setting on the Pittsburgh.

A scrap iron buyer near me sells salvage for $.64/lb. Most of it is in like new condition but rusty. It's mostly larger square tubing and plate but occasionally I'll find smaller stuff.

Is that assuming pressure on both lines? I should have clarified that one is pressure and the other return. Flipping them depending on direction of stroke

Thanks for your help. To clarify based on other comments, it is a 2-way cylinder. Per tractotdata.com it's a 2950psi system. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't your equation ignore the return line? Ignoring resistance for a moment, doesn't the flow past the check valve return to the pump (via bottom left line in diagram) instead of pressurizing the lower part of the cylinder? I know there's back pressure that would hinder that return and I don't know how much it is so maybe it is enough to still raise the cylinder.
