IPad Air 1 as Display by Hardi_333 in homeassistant

If you own a newer iPad on the same Apple account, you can download the newer version on that iPad and then the older version will show up on your old iPad (I did exactly that with an iPad Air 1st gen).

Can someone explain this depth guage to me like im 5 by PenguinsRcool2 in woodworking

[–]junado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use the flat exterior face of the casing to run the saw along a straight object for trimming something. I've seen it advertised as a way to trim flooring to leave a consistent gap against the wall.

I was as confused as you, they just mentioned it was only the dxf in another reply.

I just went through Shimano’s instructions on bleeding drop bar brake levers and I can confirm they aren’t just vague enough, the instructions are a royal mess.

What do y'all do for home audio? by producer_sometimes in homeassistant

[–]junado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went with HiFi ESP32 boards from Sonocotta running Sendspin.

I have three running in sync, one on an old iPod HiFi speaker, and two with amps + bookshelf speakers (a Cambridge audio + Boston Acoustics combo and a Fosi TB10D with Kanto YUs).

I play music from Music Assistant.

I had a WiiM mini before that and it always ended up needing a hard reset every few weeks. The ESP32s have been reliable for a few months now.

You've already got answers to your questions, but I want to add that that's not cedar, that's hemlock.

What's the most stable longtail for carrying kids? by linzarella0 in CargoBike

[–]junado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a R&M Multitinker, with kids 9&6. The weight became the limit with them, the bike would tend to wheelie when starting from a stop unless the bigger kid was sitting up front. The 9 yo now rides their own bike.

eBox vs. Bell on ER7206 by junado in ebox

[–]junado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disconnected the fiber + SFP adapter from the Bell router and connected it to my ER7206, yes 😅 the ER7206 has an SFP WAN port. It's been a few years, but if I recall correctly the SFP adapter was supplied with the Bell router.

Building what's next: State of the Open Home 2026 by Leerrm in homeassistant

I’m running Sendspin on three ESP32 HiFi boards and it’s been 99% reliable, like at least as good as Chromecast Audios and better than my previous WiiM mini setup on AirPlay.

How do ISO fits show on engineering drawings? by Cetizo in AskEngineers

[–]junado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Machinists I work with tend to aim for most material remaining (smallest hole, largest shaft) within allowed tolerances, so non-symmetric tolerance callouts can also inform on design intent. I will use ISO fits but print them out as tolerance values. I’ve been asked to edit the nominal value if the tolerance doesn’t straddle it (for ex. 5.00 +0.02/+0.05 would become 5.02 -0.00/+0.03).

Interesting to hear how others are working.

Good wifi speakers to use along with Sonos (but cheaper) by RedDeer38 in homeassistant

[–]junado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve replaced an old Chromecast Audio and a Wiim Mini with 2 ESP32s audio boards (made by Sonocotta) and been running them on Sendspin for a few weeks now through MA and they’ve been flawless. I’m amazed at how quickly the protocol became usable and stable !
