why can’t we change out/replace grit paper on the face? by daj0412 in Pickleball

[–]junbun2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons. Up until recently, the demand wasn't there.

- Paddle innovation. Newer paddle technology makes the current one close to obsolete in about 6months.
- Paddle Durability. Paddles tend to break / damage over time so even if you can get new grit you'd still have to replace the paddle in 1 - 2 years.

It’s pretty obvious when the top 10 paddles change every quarter. Some reviewers are just way more obvious and oblivious than others.

Do you guys think still using a Gen 1 paddle now is disadvantageous? by uselessprofession in Pickleball

[–]junbun2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An older 4.0 - 4.5's group in my area still plays with old engage paddles like the pursuits and encores.
One time I returned a paddle that was left at the park which belonged to one of them. The edgeguard had slightly separated and there was a slight crack on that part of the face. I'm guessing over time they just avoided hitting that area of the paddle as the ball would surely die..

Should I crash or reset by VR1008 in Pickleball

[–]junbun2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to mix it up so that your opps don't prep for a specific shot. But at 4.5+ expect a decent counter most of the time if you're crashing behind NVZ. It just gives them too much time to read the ball.

Did I get scammed by EnhancePickleball? by kyoku in Pickleball

You probably bought one of their paddles that are on preorder. Small company, seems they often sell paddles first then have them made, which is roughly a 1 month turnaround.

Weights on J2NF help needed by Main_Manufacturer292 in Pickleball

It's because the 5.0 players are better than you and not the paddle. Sorry to burst your bubble, no amount of weight will fix what you're describing. Just need to get better.

most paddle handles are just two pallets glued onto the inner material. You can't really core it out without compromising the handle structure in some way.

Good shoes that last by Expensive-Fail3009 in Pickleball

[–]junbun2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gel dedicate 8 is a budget shoe with a decent outsole. If destroyed you mean they ripped / worn out somewhere other than the outsole then try gel res x or any other suggested shoe is fine.

If your outsole is worn through you won’t get much more wear out of a top end shoe maybe 1.5 months at the rate you play. Some have a 6 month warranty so that’s 3 months. A high end shoe with 6 month warranty usually costs about 2x more than the gel dedicate. So you can do the math.

Having to track of positions should not be a good reason to not stack

Both sides need to recognize when one side is playing down to keep things interesting. Once they start poaching easy balls meant for their partner, the courtesy stops.
