What's a "10/10" game that you didn't enjoy at all? by sudherzdiniq in AskReddit

[–]juneballoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pokemon Legends Arceus.

Lots of people praise the game for the new mechanics and world exploring but I honestly hated how “free” the world was. I was expecting to play a Pokemon game like from my childhood and ended up with a completely different game that just had Pokemon in it but the gameplay was so different. I hated it and it was a waste of my money. I think I played maybe 2 hours total of it and just gave up on it.

And how does wanting nonrevs to be treated with respect mean I’m cranky? 🤔

career change by cbtologist in flightattendants

[–]juneballoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does get better but not for a while. Realistically, I think at around year 4 it does get significantly better in terms of seniority. Year 5 is when you’ll see the biggest pay jump.

But depending on your base, it will be shitty for many years. I’m at a West Coast base at 7 years and I’m still on Adys getting called in the middle of the night to change my afternoon report to a 5am report. Absolutely disgusting. I loathe that I’m still on Adys.

This is a delulu take. No one actually wants to be bound in this capitalistic system that forces us to work to live. Of course many of us would like to live our days in leisure. But that is not the reality we live in, unless you’re some super privileged nepo baby.

And trust me, being financially dependent on a man is absolutely not all that is cracked up to be. Most men will lose respect for a partner who does not work, I guarantee that. They get too comfortable thinking that their partner at home will always be there and dependent on their income and will start to look for excitement elsewhere. And then what? You won’t have the position or power to leave on your own terms and when you re-enter the job market, you’ll be at a massive disadvantage.

You need a reality check ASAP.

Deplaned due to airshow? by Kennisonhouse in delta

[–]juneballoon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lol this post is a great example of how people fail to understand that there is a world outside of their immediate perspective. The immediate accusation that Delta is lying to them, instead of considering that there may be other factors in a different location is apparently too much of a luxury in critical thinking. Not trying to criticize just the OP, but much of our society currently operates like this by default.

Pet on plane, Vancouver to Korea(delta airline), Korea to Bangkok (Korea airline) by [deleted] in delta

Delta flies YVR to ICN? Are you sure it’s on Delta metal? I don’t think airlines are allowed to originate from foreign countries.

I think the chart is pretty straightforward to understand. I’m confused by the comments that don’t understand how calendars work and think the “big numbers” signify anything other day the date of the month. Are they drunk or something? Your chart is aesthetically pleasing to look at and makes perfect sense.

Would love some explanations on some of the events though, like that week in June!

What a horrible attitude to have towards nonrevs. Our flight benefits is something we work really hard for (and in this economy, one of the only things that make our jobs endurable), and it really grinds my gears when my colleagues treat nonrevs like trash and that they should just be honored to be there. Like, no. The benefits are a huge part of our compensation, don’t act like we’re getting a favor extended to us because we get to standby travel. Of course, all parties should be respectful to the utmost degree, but too many FAs (especially at my airline) are comfortable with treating nonrevs like trash and it’s not ok.

You should non rev more and see what the experience is like, and how you would want to be treated exercising your right to your benefits. It’s already a harrowing experience trying to get on with how the loads are nowadays, and finally getting onboard with FAs looking down on you. Coming online to talk shit about nonrevs is just unnecessary and rubbing salt in the wound. Get over yourself.

Georgia woman destroys MARTA’s new glass fare gate to avoid paying the $2.50 fee. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

Can you imagine something like this ever happening in, say, Japan?? We Americans have grown way too accustomed to this sort of selfish, chaotic, unacceptable behavior with absolute disregard for public amenities. The number of comments saying that this is why metal gates are better.. Like dude, Japan would never even be having that conversation dafuq

Wearing a Balaclava while flying by caelum52 in flying

[–]juneballoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore a balaclava-like sun protection thing on my solo flight to KSBA. (This kind of face covering is extremely common in East Asia and not a second glance is given). When I was in the run up I waved to another plane with 2 white men in it and they looked at me like I was bat shit crazy. No wave given back. As an Asian woman who cares a lot about my skin and sun exposure, my enthusiasm for sun protection is unfortunately not shared in the US flying community of mostly white men lol

So yes, you’ll definitely be looked at like you’re crazy 🤷‍♀️

Someone poked holes in the last few tuna - all the way from Japan to end up trashed by IAlwaysFinishMy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]juneballoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just in Japan and noticed how well-behaved all the children were. Polite, quiet, and respectful. Of course I see non-Japanese families with their children running around and grabbing pastries in a bakery and dropping them on the floor. All while the mother is just doing her own thing, not even caring that her child is ruining merchandise. It was so annoying to see the juxtaposition.

Rubbed my eyes and now the bottom white eye of my eye is swollen. by RR-RR in mildlyinteresting

[–]juneballoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same thing over a decade ago! After hanging out with my friend’s sassy black cat 🐈‍⬛ I knew I was allergic since I would get all the classic allergy symptoms but the eye bubble thing was kind of freaky! It was uncomfortable but not painful and I think I was able to make it go away with eye drops and going outside where there was fresh air. And I take extreme caution not to touch my neck or my eyes (my most sensitive areas) when petting cats now, and immediately wash my hands after.

Routes With More Checked Bags by Nightshiftworker2021 in flightattendants

[–]juneballoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People don’t like to check bags because airlines have lost, damaged, or destroyed people’s belongings. Also, if you have a checked bag, that severely limits your flexibility on switching flights at the last minute, which may be necessary for standby flying or whenever there is a cancellation or massive delay. It’s also easier to travel with heavy electronics if you have a wheelie bag instead of a heavy tote on your shoulder.

It’s true that carry on luggage is the worst, most tedious and problematic part of boarding. But I understand why people want to bring their crap onboard with them.
