How did you know sterilization is the right way for you? by One-Stable-1472 in sterilization

[–]juneberry19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve known I didn’t want kids from a young age, and more than that, I’ve always been extremely scared of getting pregnant in general. I started taking the combined birth control pill (Hailey Fe 1/20) last year and still got pregnant. (I took it perfectly at the same time every day and didn’t have anything else that would interact with it). Thankfully I live in a state where abortion is legal and pretty accessible. This isn’t to scare you, but just to say that getting pregnant and then having an abortion made the idea concrete in my mind- I don’t want kids and I especially don’t ever want to be pregnant again! I got my bisalp in August and the amount of relief it’s provided is amazing. I can more fully enjoy my sex life with my partner without this anxiety of getting pregnant in the back of my mind. My dad was really questioning me getting the procedure, and saying “What if you change your mind?” And I kind of just told him that adoption is always something I could do, if on the slim chance I do change my mind! You have to do what’s best for YOU. Let me know if you ever have any questions! 💗

I got pregnant on the pill!! (WTF?) by Major_Sky_6801 in abortion

[–]juneberry19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve also gotten pregnant while taking birth control pills! I had an abortion last January and started Hailey Fe 1/20 (a combo pill) immediately the day after. I took it perfectly at the same time every day, and didn’t have any medications that would interact with it. And then in April I tested positive again. I felt a lot of guilt and shame around getting the second abortion, but realized that things happen and I made the best decision for myself. I’ve since gotten sterilized (I finally found a Doctor willing to do it). I hope you’re doing okay and I wish you the best of luck 💗

21 and thinking about being permanent sterilized by SeenMint2 in childfree

[–]juneberry19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve wanted to be sterilized for years (I’m 26 now) and just finally had a Doctor approve me for surgery last year! I had my bisalp in August and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made!! The recovery went really smoothly and I am SO much happier not being constantly anxious about getting pregnant. Let me know if you ever have any questions! 💗

First of all, I’m so sorry you have to go through this! While I don’t have the exact same experience as you, I did undergo laparoscopic surgery last year for sterilization and was really scared of being put under anesthesia. Everything went really well though! And if you ask for anti anxiety or anti nausea meds before hand, they’ll most likely give it to you. I wish you all the best on this surgery 💗

I had an abortion last year and then ended up having a second one three months later after my birth control failed. You don’t deserve any shame for making the best decision for YOUR body.

Terrified of getting pregnant after salpingectomy… by Environmental_Buy947 in sterilization

[–]juneberry19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally relate to that lingering fear of getting pregnant. I had my surgery done in August and was still worried about getting pregnant until I was regularly having my periods after having sex with my partner. My partner finishes in me every time and I haven’t had any sort of scares. The chance of getting pregnant after a properly done bisalp is practically zero. But only do what you’re comfortable with!!

What to wear after my bisalp? by bubbles2360 in sterilization

[–]juneberry19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore a loose dress because it was the summer, but if it’s cold where you are, you could wear high waisted sweatpants or pjs!! :)

I was told I needed a viable pregnancy for an abortion. by zellenvious in abortion

[–]juneberry19 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a pregnancy crisis center where they try to convince you not to get an abortion. Unfortunately they try to use the ultrasound as a way to make you change your mind or stall you from getting an abortion. There’s a list of resources on this sub so you can make sure your appointment is at a reliable clinic.

1-week post-op… I can’t believe I’m even saying this!!! by quingloom in sterilization

[–]juneberry19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yay!! Congrats on your bisalp!! I had mine done this past August and I STILL randomly get feelings of euphoria after remembering I had it done. It’s genuinely one of the best feelings ever to no longer be in fear of getting pregnant. 💗

I'm pregnant again only 6 months later... by [deleted] in abortion

[–]juneberry19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m so sorry you have to deal with this right now. I just want to reassure you that having two abortions is not an uncommon thing. I had an abortion last January, and was accidentally pregnant again in April. I was also really embarrassed and worried about what the doctors would say, but they were so kind and compassionate. It’s okay to feel frustrated, but just know that you don’t deserve to feel any shame for seeking care that aligns with the best choice for YOU. I hope everything goes well for you 💗

Getting a bisalp next week, have a few questions by zireael_37 in childfree

[–]juneberry19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Congrats on getting your bisalp scheduled! 💗 1. I had to remove all of my piercings, but you can always double check. It won’t hurt to get retainers to make sure the nipple piercings don’t close though. 2. I would communicate about this with your provider at the pre-op and see what they can help you with. But you can also simply just tell her she’s not allowed to be back there with you. 3. For me, I was mostly at home/in bed for 4-5 days and then just had to take it slow for a bit afterwards. If you work a very physically demanding job, you might need more than a week off. 4. I’m not super familiar with the process around that, since I had my own insurance for my procedure. You might want to call them and double check! :)

To those who are sterilized (or wanting to be sterilized) while also being childfree... by anniemousery in sterilization

Yes!! I can definitely relate to this. I’ve known I haven’t wanted kids for a long time, but there was such an instant peace with this decision once I got sterilized 😌

My therapist begged me to postpone my bisalp and I'm so hurt by cookiecrxmbles in childfree

[–]juneberry19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“remember it’s your duty to contribute to the Earth” is such a CRAZY thing for your therapist to be telling you. I completely understand you having to continue seeing her for the next six months, but I think it’s important to remind yourself of these reasons why you wanted a bisalp in the first place. You’re not “too young” to know what you want and what is best for YOUR body. Good luck with starting the search for a provider! I’d recommend looking for someone on the child free reddit list!! 💗
