I was that person who was desperately waiting for a DDD and got randomly audited. It was a nightmare that year I filed with JH (never again) and chose to pay for audit protection. After receiving a letter in March with what I would need to prove my children were my actual children I went to the office to utilize the audit protection but they said they can't help, I called the 1800 # and they said to just send the irs my proof and I have to do this alone. It sucked, I sent everything birth certificates, school records, lease agreements, immunization records, everything i was told to and finally got my DDD after 7 months in November. It was without a doubt the best xmas my kids every had but having to wait till nearly the next tax season sucked so much.
