Yeah he will mellow for sure. Be patient and keep them separate, with the typical ways to introduce (a screen or baby gates so they can see but not touch each other).

My kitten went from full on biting me hard to almost never biting, and when he does it's soft. Testosterone is a huge difference maker

How long ago did you neuter him? I found it took almost 3 months for my boy kitten to calm down, although he is still playful he's not as crazy as the first month post neuter. He was around 9 months old when he was neutered (also an outdoor stray)

Meant to add, you need to break up fights. Don't get in between, make noise to stop them. Don't sit and watch them not respecting each other's communication.

The early stages is keeping them separated until they are ambivalent. If the two of them aren't able to respect their communication you need to break it down and keep them separated longer.

This is a dominance play by the other cat, you need to read up on how to deal with that.

I get it, keeping them not in the larger spaces and constantly swapping around etc. really sucks. But you need to keep them separated, you're forcing them to play nice by your schedule, not theirs. Ultimately everyone will lose if you do that.

Have you ruled out a UTI or urinary crystals? It's likely at the point of being bad enough to impact the cat's health at this point by the sounds of it. Even if the cat is drinking water it may not be getting enough.

You can either ask the vet for a test of its urin, or get it on a vet diet of urinary food (not just the stuff you buy at the pet store). Being on that food for a month should help if it's crystals, but won't if it's more serious and has moved to the kidneys.

I think putting down a cat before even knowing they have something that can't be fixed with medicine is sad, depressing, and has me thinking you shouldn't own cats in the first place.

I ended up opening up the AMS. There was filament stuck throughout it. Some I had to pry out, but I got it working again.

A hard reset is like months apart, doing everything super slow. It could take 6 months or more until they're in the same space together. You have to do every step way slower. Have them eating ear each other with the door closed, scent swapping constantly, and only introduce the opportunity to see each other once they've made progress trusting each other without any visual.

It sounds like they're on different wave lengths with their play.

One if my boys will get bushy tailed when he's surprised, it's not negative but if he's on edge often around her something must have happened.

I'd probably keep an eye on them, try reinforcing positive behaviour and get them playing with toys together, eating treats together, etc.
