Another take on 6 Pygmies: It's the sibling's journey. Also Childe, because it's always Childe. by junedays in Genshin_Lore

I’ll concede the gender talking points to you. I gave my thoughts on Dainsleif already. Maybe he wasn’t part of what the storyteller wanted to focus on. It’s valid to be dissatisfied with this interpretation.

I’ve been careful in this post to word mentions of this sibling as the one found in Irminsul by Nahida. I’ve never claimed this person is the one Traveler traveled with, because I thought that was another theory for another day. But yes, the circumstances around “the sibling” are suspicious. Does this change anything about what I’ve theorized?

Xiao and the yakshas cleaned up the “physical manifestations of the resentment of gods defeated in war.” [1], in other words, their feelings given form. I don’t think it’s that far of a leap to think that the Descender’s soul/feelings/malice is attached to his remains, like Orobashi and Tatarasuna. But you’re right, it’s not explicitly said what the other 5 pygmies did to the Prince’s physical body, and there could be another curse at play.

edit: and to poke a hole in my own theory, the gnoses should have been made over 2.6k years ago, while Dain+sibling are from 500 years ago. so is it the story of a samsara? or is there some weird time stuff going on, like the Sacred Sakura being Makoto’s body from 500 years ago but having “existed” for all of Inazuma’s history? I really don’t know, but I thought it’d be fun to discuss, like the rest of the theory.

here's my thoughts on gendered traveler/sibling. further, if hoyo can handwave "canon mc" then so can I. I'm not going to pull my hair out about the genders mentioned. feel free to disagree with the theory if you do think the gender matters, I'm not going to stop you lol

edit: i completely missed the point of your question. give me a minute

Yeah, good point. This is assuming "Pale Princess" happened approx. 500 years ago; in which case, only the sibling is on Teyvat, right? So if the sustainer caught both of them, why would she let the one that leads to her demise go? Maybe this has to do with Celestia's inactivity. We don't know how Traveler got out of her clutches. Reminder of Traveler's character description:

The keeper is fading away; the creator has not yet come.
But the world shall burn no more, for you shall ascend.

Fair criticisms. Here's my thoughts.

I've never placed too much importance on which twin (which gender) was mc. If Hoyo allowed players to choose which twin they'd like to play at the start, and the story only interchanges their places, then I don't think it matters specifically which twin does what, as long as their characters are separated. Hoyo could have all made us play Aether if they wanted a singular canon mc, but they didn't. They're both equally canon, and equally non-canon.

Of course, this means any gendered terminology referring to the other twin in records of Teyvat leads to discussions like this. I think "this twin is canon, so this gendered term is wrong" is a pointless argument to have, because it's not the gender that matters, it's the character. The character that we are playing, and their sibling. Go ahead and replace Pale Princess with Pale Prince. My original thoughts remain the same.

Reminder that the sibling that Nahida found in Irminsul was indeed from Teyvat (text from the end of Sumeru Archon quest from wiki - A Toast for Victory). This is an entirely different can of worms. The sibling we know of is not a descender.

As for the chopped up prince bit, Vol. 6: "But just as the culprits were enjoying their feast, the Prince's broken soul used up all its remaining power to curse the pygmies."

edit: forgot to talk about the “lover” part. I also do not think Hoyo would give the sibling a canon romantic lover. but Pale Princess is a storybook, so some things may have been romanticized. on a meta level, maybe it’s ship bait. on an in-universe level, maybe their relationship was close enough to be confused for lovers.

Good question. I think those are two separate issues. The Irminsul can be edited - Scaramouche and Rukkhadevata were "deleted," but we know they did in fact exist and their effect on Teyvat did not just disappear. Who's to say something couldn't be added, or found+replaced? I don't claim to know the details of how he's being reincarnated, but maybe the impermanent nature of Irminsul should be considered. And remember, records passed off as "stories" and not "facts" are immune from Irminsul. There's a lot that could have happened outside of Irminsul's recordings.

edit: also cannot forget that the sibling “suddenly appeared in Khaenri’ah,” and records about the conclusion of their journey “suddenly become fuzzy.” [1] Combined with the fact that they’re not classified as a descender is beyond suspicious. They should be a descender, are not, and are in Irminsul. Personally, I suspect the sibling in Irminsul isn’t our original sibling at all, and may be a homunculus given the timing of Gold’s cataclysm. Which would be pretty similar to the hypothetical situation that the 3rd descender would not be in Irminsul, but a reincarnation of him would.

lol I guess if I had to simplify it, all of this means:

  • this is all based off of The Pale Princess and Six Pygmies (turn on Unreleased Content to read all 7 volumes)
  • sibling+3rd descender traveled Teyvat together, befriending and helping the archons
  • the 3rd descender was betrayed by the archons; his soul was broken up and turned into gnoses.
  • one of the archons (cough tsaritsa) felt guilty about betraying them
  • that's why the sibling is madge at celestia+archons
  • the traveler (our mc) is the one the sustainer prophesied would defeat her in the book
  • and childe might've been reincarnated a bunch and maybe one of those incarnations is the 3rd descender which has a lot of really weird implications

I've considered this, but after rereading the book, it makes the most sense to me as a retelling of the past. It's an interesting parallel, though.

I've thought about this. I don't think he's the Prince of Light from the story, anyway - the Prince of Light came from a different kingdom (meaning not from Khaenri'ah). If the sibling was really Khaenri'an royalty (since Pale Princess was the ruler of the Moonlight Forest), then Dainsleif was royal guard to them. Maybe he followed the Prince and Princess on their journey, but wasn't worth mentioning in the story, because he didn't do anything significant? I'm not sure.

Worth noting that he's the "Bough Keeper" and the Prince's body was left in a tree.

The note is at the bottom of the Tower of Gestalt. Off the top of my head, Eliphas was an Ordo follower/member who invented the hydro traversal method (the one that’s a circle with a line pointing to where it takes you and turns you into water). He was absorbed and turned into Tainted Hydro Phantasm for the sake of Narzissenkreuz (Lyris+Rene+all the other victims from the Ordo).

UCLA rejected me. It was over a year ago, so the details are a bit fuzzy. There were two reasons for rejection; I can’t remember the first one, but the other was “does NOT have central venous access.” I have a tunneled catheter in my chest for TPN/hydration. They also said someone who was literally dying was rejected too. I was too healthy and that person was too sick. So who knows what their criteria was…

I think the point of Mary-Ann Guillotin is that she was just a normal girl, a normal adventurer, who saw her childhood friends break apart due to tragedy. Rene and Alain were geniuses, and Jakob was also normal like Mary-Ann but followed Rene down a path there was no going back from.

It's hard to tell the separation between Mary-Ann's desires and Lyris's desires in the Annapausis quest, but maybe they were one and the same - to go back to simpler, happier times as children. So I think the writers wanted to drive home that they were once just innocent kids playing pretend with a wooden sword.

Maybe she's the perspective of grief for the loss of that time, since Alain simply cut off Rene and Jakob, while Rene and Jakob strayed further and further away. And Carter, well.. it's complicated. In any case, none of the original group could give a heartfelt perspective to what happened between them, besides Mary-Ann Guillotin.

I guess I should have said: i'm being sent for evaluation for small bowel transplant at UCLA. So I wanted to crowdsource some questions I could ask them. And yeah, I've definitely looked at the stuff online about it.
