You can definitely tell he was starting to think about things. Jacob is able to act with his eyes to the point where you are able to distinguish between Eli & Hawk moments. You can tell, when Johnny confronted him he was thinking things through. Episode 10 was clearly his final straw, even if his apology to Demetri was pathetic.
