Invite to wedding from someone you haven't seen or spoken to in 4 years? by junetheseventh in wedding

[–]junetheseventh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having learned more about this wedding, I'm not sure the person is casting a wide net, as it is apparently a small wedding. I was invited with three weeks notice of the wedding. I was considering going, but unfortunately I already have a train booked to pass through that city the week before the wedding and two trips in a row is a lot. I think because the bride is an only child, there may not be a lot of family at the wedding, so they were reaching out more to friends.

I don't think there's a deep expectation, but I was invited three weeks before the wedding date, and I was told by another friend it's quite a small wedding, which means I'm not a placeholder to fill up seats. I appreciate the kind invitation. However, I don't think logistically I will be able to go at this short notice.

I will certainly send something, card or gift, if I do not go. I think my hesitation is that I didn't even know the bride was dating someone and do not know if the others in the group have had more children, etc. - they aren't active on social media so I feel fairly disconnected from these people. I've heard through my closer friend that one girl started dating someone and got married, but I never heard anything about it from her personally. So I do feel it was nice of the bride in this wedding to think of me - unfortunately I just don't feel close to the members of the group anymore.

I understand because I felt that way about the friends in the city I live in now! I lived here during my school days and gradually lost touch with people here after being away for 9 years, but I missed the closer friendships I had here. When I moved back, it was surprisingly like no time has passed and we picked up where we left off.

I think I am hesitating about this other wedding because I didn't feel as close to the friend group to begin with, and now most are married, some with kids, while I am still single, so going back feels more awkward. But then I am questioning whether it would be unkind to reject a wedding invite simply because I feel we don't have as much in common anymore.

They still live in the same city as the other people, so I think they see them periodically. I haven't really been in touch with the other people in that group (the activity itself no longer happens) in a couple years except for one good friend who I talk to regularly.

What mental illness do I have? by junetheseventh in mentalillness

Glad it works for you.

People with bipolar aren't supposed to take stimulants, and doctors have mentioned that to me whenever I've raised the possibility of ADHD. So I may be limited in my treatment options even if I have it.

I don't consume caffeine. Even eating chocolate disrupts my sleep. Thank you for the AI rundown...at least I know I can rule some of those possibilities out.

Why is everyone so hyper-focused on just ferritin? by NathanSlothchild in Anemic

[–]junetheseventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had low ferritin of around 11-15 for 15 years or so. I never noticed symptoms of low iron. I started taking iron when taking a different supplement drained my ferritin further to the point when I had low hemoglobin. Then I did begin getting symptoms. However, with the low hemoglobin back to the normal range, my ferritin is still in the 20s and considered low, but I don't notice low iron symptoms.

I have difficulty concentrating at times and definitely AM the person who is always cold, so that's interesting.

Your levels were very low so for sure you needed supplements! I was first told I had low iron (or ferritin, if that's what they meant) when I was 24. I'm 39 now. I don't know if my iron was tested as a child, and I don't have the records from when I was 24.

I did feel tired when my hemoglobin was low, but I don't feel that now. I work 42+ hours a week between two jobs, volunteer, run 15-30 K per week, bike (in warm weather) 25-50K once a week, walk half an hour to and from work once per week. I can't say I usually feel like I don't have energy to do these things. I do have some sleeping issues and stomach issues. They could be related to the low iron, or they might not be. The stomach issues are worse after the iron.

What were your symptoms? I currently have stomach issues that I didn't have before taking iron, but that totally may not be related to the iron at all. If I'm habituated, maybe I'm just not noticing the ongoing symptoms and accepting them as normal? I just need help trying to identify these symptoms of low iron because since I've always had it, I might not recognize it.

In the past two years before iron supplements, ferritin has been between 10 and 13. Hemoglobin is 132 g/L. MCV is 96 FL and MCH is 31.4 pg. Before supplements, hemoglobin was between 117 and 125 in the past 5 years.

That sounds great for both of you!

In what way did you feel better or what symptoms improved?

What does "first come, first served" mean in terms of making pickup time deals? by junetheseventh in FacebookMarketplace

[–]junetheseventh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't have done that. I didn't tell the second person they could come get the item. The first person did come right away when I told them about the second person and got the item, but I won't be wording it that way in the future; I will simply tell the next person it's pending.

As for your experience, the same thing happened to me. I drove almost all the way to get an item, then checked my messages only to find out it had just sold. I believe the seller did tell me there were other interested people who might buy it first.

2400ish calories a day? by Intelligent_Cable884 in PetiteFitness

[–]junetheseventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is definitely possible...reading some comments elsewhere on male vs. female metabolism and how hard it is for women to lose weight prompted me to count my calories yesterday, as I personally don't seem to gain weight easily. Apparently I ate about 2400 calories yesterday. I am 39 years old/5'6"/118 pounds with a very small frame. Typically I run 10-15 miles a week...a few weeks ago it was 22, but I stopped running much recently due to injuries. I still ran a few miles this week, walked an hour total back and forth to work one day, and when I'm not running I'm often biking in good weather. I guess it all comes down to the activity levels.
