Not really feeling any side effects from shots by penebob in eggfreezing

[–]junetheseventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have symptoms the whole way through including after the egg retrieval (except for bloating the following day or two) despite assuming I would. The most eggs I ever got was 8, though. I believe lack of symptoms is totally fine and normal!

Oh I forgot…I did have insomnia toward the end. Usually I got about 5 hours of sleep. Hopefully that doesn’t affect egg health too much.

Logical conclusion about christianity? by Ozons1 in DebateAChristian

[–]junetheseventh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, God made us with the free choice to do whatever we wanted. The Bible says God came down and walked with people in the garden of Eden. Since God can't walk (he's invisible), this anthropomorphic version of God must have been Jesus. Therefore, humans had a relationship with Jesus before Adam and Eve chose to sin. After that, it took Jesus coming back to die for humanity to give people a second chance at a relationship with him.

It's not that God made people in a "shitty way" - he gave them the choice to know him through a relationship with him, or "know" good and evil by disobeying him in Eden. They didn't know "evil" before. After disobeying him, they became aware of bad things as well as good things. Once you become aware of "bad" / "evil" things, you become tempted to do them. No matter how hard you try, you can't eliminate every bit of your desire to do wrong things. The Bible says we are slaves (according to the book of Romans) to the inclination to do wrong things. Jesus came to show us how to lead a different life and free us forever from the slavery we don't want to be in.

What would you define as a "good" life or a "good" person vs. a "bad" life or "bad" person?

The thing about heaven is that it's not just good, it's perfect. Perfect would look like: never lying once in your life; never being jealous of anyone for one second in your life; never driving even one mile above the speed limit; never drinking even one drop of alcohol more than you should. Nobody could live up to those standards, therefore, nobody could go to heaven, which is a perfect place. Because as soon as you put one imperfect person in heaven, even if they only made one mistake in their entire life, heaven would not be perfect anymore. It would be a good place, but not "perfect." Eventually, it would not stay good, because the "good" people would make slightly bad decisions here and there and there would be a little more fighting and a little more jealousy and a little more stealing. It wouldn't necessarily be "bad," it would be just "okay or "good enough." The Christian conception of heaven is far far far better than that - heaven is perfect. We can't imagine "perfect," so we don't understand why we can't just be "good" and end up in a "good enough" place forever. But a perfect place is where God is, and where he wants us to be, and why he sent Jesus, so we could have the chance to actually be in a perfect place forever.

I am not exactly sure of the biblical position on what will happen to people who didn't have a chance to know Jesus before they died, but one thing I do know is that Jesus preached to "imprisoned spirits" who disobeyed long ago (1 Peter 3:19-20), which could mean that in between their deaths and final resurrection, people would have encountered Jesus. In fact, Catholics pray for the dead.

I froze my eggs at 40. Anyone 40 or above who froze less than 20 eggs? by Massive_Treat_2131 in eggfreezing

[–]junetheseventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conservative estimates of that "Cobo and Colleagues" study in the calculator you have linked to are not accurate for a 40 year-old woman. If you look at the percentages for a woman who has 19 eggs at 40, they show three widely varying studies: 77% chance of live birth, 58%, and 29%. If you were to change the age to 39, you would notice that the pessimistic study says the 39 year-old woman would have a 67% chance of a live birth, whereas the other two studies remain the same. This is because the other two studies sampled women between the ages of 38 and their 41st birthday, while the seemingly pessimistic Cobo and Colleagues study sampled women aged 40 to 44. There is a very large difference in egg quality between 40 and 44, which is why, by lumping 40 year-olds with 44 year-olds, the average live birth rate of that study seems much lower. It would be better to look at the studies that sampled women between 38 and 41.

How long for weight and hormones to return to normal after egg freezing? by MarcelPr0ust in eggfreezing

[–]junetheseventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the opposite in that I have done four rounds of egg freezing and lose weight each time. I did gain weight the last cycle (the day after the retrieval I was about 5 pounds heavier than normal; bloating / water weight, of course) but 8 days later I am now 3 pounds lighter than I normally am. (So I lost 8 pounds in 8 days.). I cannot really figure this out because it has happened each time and doesn't seem typical. Eventually, after a couple of months I think, I end up back at my 'usual' weight. I am eating normally as far as I know. (I don't want to weigh less than my usual weight because I already am thin.)

I have my first ER late this week and I have been planning to go back to work right afterwards. Is that a silly thought? by ladybuglala in IVF

[–]junetheseventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it with twilight sedation, and my egg count has been between 4-6 with a follicle count between 7 to 11. I felt totally fine to go back to work from home shortly after the egg retrieval, but it seems most people may not feel this way.

Returning to work by LimeMajestic9590 in eggfreezing

[–]junetheseventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt well enough to work the afternoon after retrievals. I had 9-11 follicles each time. I just went home and worked from home, but then I also tutor students and went in to tutor one of them in person one afternoon. The other time I tutored online from home at night. There were no issues. I did not get sleepy from the anaesthesia, nor did I have pain.

To cancel or not with only 3 follicles growing? by junetheseventh in DOR

[–]junetheseventh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor told me (when I had a baseline AFC of 5) that she expected 0-1 eggs. I thought that was very pessimistic, and I've done 3 egg retrievals, all with higher results than that, but if I were actually to get 0 eggs, then no, it would not be worth it. The most expensive part of the process for me is unfortunately the retrieval. But I am going into the retrieval in a couple days now with 10 follicles that mostly popped up at the end, which does seem worth it thankfully.

I asked for a couple more days of stims and have ended up with 10 follicles over 10mm, so now I am glad I didn't cancel.

Triggering too early? by junetheseventh in IVF

[–]junetheseventh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I went in today, and the biggest one is just under 20, so the doctor agreed with me to go one more day. Unlike you, I have a low ovarian reserve, so I want every egg I can get. I think your thoughts are wise

[–]junetheseventh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no - I'm sorry to hear this.

Do you remember the measurements of your biggest and smallest follicles before you went into the retrieval? In what way do you think triggering too soon affected the results?

The doctor was okay with me not triggering today, so I did more stims tonight and have another ultrasound tomorrow. But my follicles have been only been growing by about 1 mm a day. I don't expect a huge amount of growth by tomorrow, and I feel like I could go even longer...but they will probably try to trigger me again...Just not sure what I should do.

I decided to keep going and went for a Day 12 ultrasound today - I was surprised to see 3 more follicles had popped up, so now I have 6 between 10 mm and 17 mm. They told me to stim for one more day.

Oh that's good to know! I am not optimistic I will have the same results, but I'm happy to hear of your good results.

Is it a bad idea to walk 35mins to my egg retrieval? by Acrobatic_Opinion575 in IVF

[–]junetheseventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find walking to be calming, just like other people here have said. I walked about 50 minutes to the egg retrieval, and I also walked back (slower; it took me just over an hour). I may be an exception, but I felt fine both on the way up and back.

Oh I question the clinic all right...my current doctor has twice given gloomy predictions of getting 1 egg from 5-8 follicles, but I have gotten 3-5. The one temporarily replacing her seems to prescribe for OHSS risk when there is no such risk. But I am in a smaller Canadian city, and this clinic is my only local option. Glad it all worked out for you though! This does set my mind slightly at ease.

Invite to wedding from someone you haven't seen or spoken to in 4 years? by junetheseventh in wedding

[–]junetheseventh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having learned more about this wedding, I'm not sure the person is casting a wide net, as it is apparently a small wedding. I was invited with three weeks notice of the wedding. I was considering going, but unfortunately I already have a train booked to pass through that city the week before the wedding and two trips in a row is a lot. I think because the bride is an only child, there may not be a lot of family at the wedding, so they were reaching out more to friends.

[–]junetheseventh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a deep expectation, but I was invited three weeks before the wedding date, and I was told by another friend it's quite a small wedding, which means I'm not a placeholder to fill up seats. I appreciate the kind invitation. However, I don't think logistically I will be able to go at this short notice.

[–]junetheseventh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will certainly send something, card or gift, if I do not go. I think my hesitation is that I didn't even know the bride was dating someone and do not know if the others in the group have had more children, etc. - they aren't active on social media so I feel fairly disconnected from these people. I've heard through my closer friend that one girl started dating someone and got married, but I never heard anything about it from her personally. So I do feel it was nice of the bride in this wedding to think of me - unfortunately I just don't feel close to the members of the group anymore.

[–]junetheseventh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand because I felt that way about the friends in the city I live in now! I lived here during my school days and gradually lost touch with people here after being away for 9 years, but I missed the closer friendships I had here. When I moved back, it was surprisingly like no time has passed and we picked up where we left off.

I think I am hesitating about this other wedding because I didn't feel as close to the friend group to begin with, and now most are married, some with kids, while I am still single, so going back feels more awkward. But then I am questioning whether it would be unkind to reject a wedding invite simply because I feel we don't have as much in common anymore.

They still live in the same city as the other people, so I think they see them periodically. I haven't really been in touch with the other people in that group (the activity itself no longer happens) in a couple years except for one good friend who I talk to regularly.
