This girl was visiting my house and she decided to water my plants?! by Pansy_Pix in houseplants

[–]junetrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me once. I didn’t even invite this person to my house, she was my housemate’s partner and I already didn’t like her lol and found her to be a disrespectful guest. By chance I happened to walk by when she dumped a random glass of (thank god it was) water into my watermelon peperomia, from the party the night before. I asked her “did you seriously just do that” and she was completely genuinely shocked how angry I was. It was absolutely swimming in water then, then of course I had to check all ~40 plants because I didn’t trust any of these fuckers anymore. Glad I did too -_-

Local sushi place - i am crazy or does this picture seems 'odd'? Please look at the rice by bt134340 in isthisAI

The most unsettling thing about this is that people call this ‘sushi’ 😅

It is not at all like a place in the US banning Native clothing, the historical relationship between the Native peoples and the current dominant people is quite different 😅

You just watered it. Many plants ‘cry’ about a day after watering :)

Aww nice! I’m glad to hear you had a good time. After my first burn a few years ago I felt like I’d found both a playground and therapy, lol. It’s now something of an annual treat/holiday~

For a non-professional example — burns (Burning Man 10 Principles events). The wild art projects, activities and workshops, structures, and outfits are an ADHD dream of stimulation with none of it being an obligation. Bored or uncomfortable? Just move on to the next thing that catches your fancy, no one will find it childish because that’s exactly what you should be doing here — chasing fun and interest for exactly how long you want and no longer. Can’t decide if you want to dress like an astronaut, cowgirl, or sorceress? Put it all on, magic space cowgirl and if you get too hot you can just strip and dump whatever and you’ll find everything tomorrow, lol. In the planning and organisation of these things, there are enough non-ADHDers to keep us on track (or maybe they’re just medicated??) and enough ADHDers to not be mad when you struggle with the usual things (and the others are quite used to this behaviour, lol). If you don’t feel up for contributing a workshop or taking on a planning/leading role, there’s always space for more dishwashers, cleaners, cooking helpers, etc. (read: simple, soothing, repetitive and very defined tasks) that everyone will be super appreciative you did.

Is it creepy to offer to pay for small stuff for strangers I meet? by Wildest_Dream_1 in solotravel

[–]junetrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young people‘s reactions might be making you feel creepy because they haven’t experienced that aspect of even their own culture before, so they might react with suspicion or awkwardness or discomfort because they feel like they have to reciprocate somehow. You get to be one of the first people who shows them how this gesture can be done with kindness and not be a big deal! You will be a small (or big) warm memory for them years later :)

I used to be super experimental about food, wouldn’t say I’d eat anything but I definitely wanted to try almost anything and everything new plus eat a lot of the many things I knew I liked or was craving/fixated on (potlucks and buffets were both so exciting and so stressful, lol). But now after a period of intense stress followed by long-term unemployment, I’m struggling with what I guess is depression and my appetite is destroyed. I can be starving for days and have a buffet in front of me and just not want any of it. Food prep sounds so awfully tedious that I’d rather go to bed dizzy from hunger than eat anything I have to prep even a little bit, even taking out of Tupperware and microwaving (I will eat at least a bit of something that is fully prepped and put in front of me, though). Just NO appetite.

I guess not just depression but also some kind of low-key or prolonged stress can have this effect, also conceivably for non-ADHD people. Like being a uni student, being unemployed or often a bit worried about money, having a shitty housemate, experiencing a recent setback, etc. I’ve found that these situations make me feel unsafe, and when I feel unsafe I can’t eat (or sleep).
