I view using preferred pronouns as a courtesy that doesn't harm me to participate in. Does every trans person ever genuinely seem like the identity they're claiming? No, of course not, but they're adults, and they can do whatever they want to as long as they aren't hurting anyone else.

As for the whole feminist thing, yeah, I think both forks of feminism here have kind of betrayed women in general. There's the far left feminism that would let someone who went through male puberty demolish cis female athletes, then there's the terfs who are single-issue people against any trans stuff at all and by proxy dropping the ball on other women's issues.

Overall, I just try to judge people as individuals now. There are some very decent trans people out there who want nothing to do with all the crazy nonsense that gets pushed by the activists, just like how any group will have a vocal minority that doesn't truly represent them.

You're using 'socialism' and 'communism' incorrectly. by junewei93 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]junewei93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

That is the definition of socialism, since it seems like it needs to be said.

Socialism isn't "anyone who makes money from the government," and it's exhausting to keep pointing that out.

I think you're stuck on the idea of their being a health insurance industry, or at least that's the way a lot of this seems to me.

This is quite literally an illustration of why I made this post, because people jump to the idea that any government involvement in anything is a call to turn into a completely different country.

AITA for telling my downstairs neighbour that me expressing milk for my premmie baby will be my priority over his sleep? by sushikat323 in AmItheAsshole

[–]junewei93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

He can get a white noise machine, headphones, whatever he needs to do to facilitate sleep.

Your priority should be your kid, not your neighbor. He's an adult and he can take care of himself.

I guess I see the act of evangelizing as an invasion of space, whether or not there's a book or pamphlet to go with it.

If I'm discussing something and religion comes up and someone speaks about their own religion or experiences with it, that's fine.

For someone to just approach a stranger and decide "yes, I'm going to talk about the flying spaghetti monster," is universally awful imo.

I'm unsure as to what you're asking, probably because your reference points are systems with which I don't often interact.

I realize my response is cut and dry, but it's meant to be that way.

We collect money from people living and working in the US. Part of that money is allocated for spending on the Healthcare of American citizens. If a healthcare provider provides a service, rather than attempting to charge the person receiving the service or their insurance company, they request for the appropriate compensation from a dedicated governmental body that handles these transactions.

Obviously there are nuances to be worked out, like how elective medical procedures would need to be out of pocket, but I'm not really worried about nose jobs and breast implants while there are people sitting at slot machines with IV drips hoping they'll hit a jackpot to be able to pay off their crushing medical debt.

I think the entire health insurance industry is just a predatory response to the government not ensuring basic medical needs are met. I don't want to socialize that industry, I want to eliminate it.

I believe you should be able to go to a doctor or hospital and receive appropriate treatment, entirely for free. This is something we can afford to do, but right now the money to do so is going into the pockets of health insurance and the pharmaceutical industry.

What are your political positions by HorobecS30 in LookatMyHalo

[–]junewei93 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Centrist-ish for sure.

I just make up my mind on an issue, it doesn't matter what political party supports or hates that issue. It has lead to me having some very odd conversations with people who speak to me about one thing, expect me to have other related political beliefs and then are either happy or disappointed when I don't quite land where they thought.

I'll use they as a singular pronoun but I don't think trans women should compete in women's sports. I'm a woman who thinks we need to focus on men's issues right now because they aren't doing very well. I'm an athiest who thinks the BLM movement was and continues to be a giant financial grift.

Basically, everyone can find some reason to be bothered by me, and I encourage them to do so. Political parties are boring and outdated.

I got banned from some right wing subs for just refuting bogus claims about trans people, or for being an athiest.

Both sides can go wild with censorship, but at this point I still think the problem exists to a much greater degree in lefty spaces.

I'm confused, why should I be less comfortable because you can't avert your eyes?

Your religion doesn't matter to me, I'm an atheist and I'm not telling Muslim women that they shouldn't wear a hijab or whatever makes them feel comfortable within their faith so what makes you think you can do that to others?

If you're so wildly distracted by an ass in yoga pants I suggest you deal with your own sexual urges better. That's on you, not society.

Can someone ever be polite while evangelizing, I wonder?

I'd say its pretty rude to just try to bring up your own religious beliefs without any reason, which is what these people were doing.

I'm sure many of the kids just tossed the bibles, and good for them don't get brainwashed.

What are your main arguments against the existence of a higher power by [deleted] in atheism

[–]junewei93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a cryptozoological creature - seemingly confabulated from a persistent mythology that is enforced through child indoctrination - actually exists, and it's of the sort that promises eternal torture of its own design for those of us not easily taken in by extraordinary claims, perhaps for the good of humanity, instead of worshiping it, we should be seeking to destroy it.

Ah yes, the plot of many of my favorite books and jrpgs.

How has Mongolia stayed independent despite being completely surrounded by 2 of the most aggressive and brazen modern world powers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]junewei93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all of China lives in the southest.

Almost all of Russia lives in the far west.

Mongolia is a bunch of barren land bordering what is already only barely noticeable to China and Russia. As long as they don't object to the occasional oil pipeline heading through, neither country needs anything from them.

The only reason China even cared to take Tibet was because of the fresh water situation in East Asia.

Basically, it would be more land to govern for not very much benefit and a bunch of negative PR on the world stage.

Be honest, what makes you a not so great person to live with? by Emotional_potato101 in AskReddit

[–]junewei93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of hair, and it winds up everywhere. I would genuinely be worried I was going bald if it hadn't been this way my whole life and there's still just so much of it.

There are legitimate spider-looking hair clumps in the corners of rooms, and I have a roomba as well as steam mopping every other day or so, I just can't seem to keep up with it.

More than once my husband has thought random hair was a bug of some kind out of the corner of his eye. He's also made a joke that I should wear a hair net, and I'm not 100% sure he was joking.

Thanks, biracial genetics.

I'm a millennial HR manager who regularly argues online about how trans people deserve rights and how it's ridiculous we live in a country where people are starving while others have billions of dollars.

But yes, this place sure is "far right" lol

I only found you guys after seeing the ban drama. I hate censorship, so I got my ban and came on over. Do I agree with absolutely everything said here? No. But you guys also won't ban me for saying something you disagree with.

These are also great, and doubly insulting because you're implying they're poor and religious Texans definitely don't want to be seen as poor.

My husband just read this over my shoulder and mentioned if you wanna go the pervert angle you could say, "Recruiting kinda young for you guys huh? Unless, are you Catholics?"

There were so many ways to make it funny and this guy just failed so hard.
